Intresting Poll.

Would you put your number up on a South African Skype Directory ?

I'd have two 'numbers' - one public and one private. The private is the one I'd use for Mac to landline. The public one I could change when necessary without having to worry about transferring my skype out credits should people start abusing the system. I could just see telemarketers calling to offer me a new VOIP service!

Anyone out there try one of the skype handsets? Are they worth getting? Right now I use a PS2 headset that came with SOCOM which seems to work pretty well and has a nice long cable.

Yes,

We have many in stock, and have found them to be quite good, some even have noise cancelaltion etc ?

Email me. I know of a site being put up at the moment called www.voicegear.co.za which will list these phones as well as the new South African skype directory being created.

Really need to get one of those handsets - just signed up for Skypein. I've got a local number in the UK and one in NY (€30 per year for each number) where people can call me. If I'm at my pc it goes through like a skype-skype call otherwise its gets diverted to voicemail - sweet.

They're free so why not have two accounts especially if you're concerned with anonymity. However, if helps they do give you a per call costing so you could separate business from personal calls.

adlo - Try this - If you're running XP Pro then create a seperate windows user account (Control pannels> User Accounts etc). Then create a new shortcut for Skype. Right click on the icon and select 'Run as'. Choose the user account you created earlier.Bingo - you should now have 2 copies of Skype running. Enter your second skype account details in the new instance of skype. (Apparently there is a similar solution if you're running 2000 but I havent been able to verify it.)

You'll need 2 different audio sources - a usb headset for one and a sound card for the other perhaps?

Hope that helps.

Hey, I just found a new Joomla based Skype Directory here: http://www.skype-directory.com

It's global (near as I can tell), free and anyone can submit an entry with or without registration.

I've seen other Skype Users Directories but this is the best one so far. I wrote to them to see if they would make a separate SA directory and they wrote back saying are going to divide the Home Users directory into countries and there will be a South Africa Skype Directory!
