what speeds are we seeing ?

ok, given that I am using only GPRS this is my results I got from my cell.
Download time: 110.229 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 37 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 4.5 (kiloBytes/second)

location, N***wana, Mpumalanga, 50 KM from Nelspruit. tower is aprox 3-5 km away and signal strength on T610 was at 32 % (kinda low)

I've noticed that signal strength is a factor. My friend's signal usually hangs around 2 bars below full (-85 dBm to -90 dBm according to my 6210 with Netmonitor enabled), and he rarely gets more than 25kbps on the same speed test as Snowolf has posted. My friend is approximately 5 km from the tower.

Yesterday evening and this morning I got 52 kbps, 3km from the tower, full bar (-67 dBm).

I'm currently using GPRS in the Vaal Triangle and can only drool at the 3G speeds in JHB area. Can't wait for the rollout of 3G to the Vaal.
