Hi friends,

I've hung up my WoW boots and going back to sort out Guild Wars.

I have a lvl 10 ranger on Prophecies and a lvl 10 Dervish on Nightfall. Which would you guys recommend I push through first? (I'm keen to eventually finish off both, seeing as I bought the campaigns back in 2006 and never did anything further... - I was on Dialup, ok? :o)

I also cannot for the life of me remember what my secondary classes are, although I think I took elemental on my ranger (no idea why though...)

I've always wondered if it would be cool to play as an assassin from Factions (since my only lvl80 on WoW was a rogue as well)

Nice that us old GW Players are getting back into the game :D I had the same scenario a few years back but with a Prophecies W/Mo and got to level the Derv first which was much more fun and only now after about 4 years focused on the Wammo... Nightfall was better for me overall and progress was faster.

You can change to any secondary class in the game once you are past a certain part in the game. It only costs 500g a pop and you wont lose your skills for the current secondary class. You can then select any of the purchased secondary classes from your skills menu whenever you are in a town or outpost without charge.

I also got faction recently for the skills and the Sin, but ended up playing with the Ritualist and he is pawning everything lol.

You can also get EoTN and by the time you are level 11 or 12 you can ask a friend or guild member to take you through to EoTN and then do the quests there to level up VERY fast. In EoTN all your sub lvl20 characters are automatically upgraded to level 20 until you actually reach that level so you will be able to do the quests ;)

Haven't had much to do with the alliance but the guild is great! That 3k prezzy has grown to 23k now :P saving for some Norn armor for my Rit now instead of Asuran armor for the Warrior lol. I have 2 missions left in EoTN and 5 in Factions. Will try and finish EoTN before the weekend... hope I can without human help, my Rit and the heros are pawning atm :D

I'm using Vek (AOE), Ogden as WoH Monk, and Livia as minion bomber :P

I don't have all of the leet skills though so I am improvising but so far the setup rocks!

I'm not an officer but wait for Devill to come online again or just PM him your IGN and he will send an invite. The guild has about 100 members, it is the leader of an alliance and you should see about 30% of the guild members online during peak times.

My lvl 10 ranger = Feanor Valinor
My lvl 10 dervish = Yomah Sahara

I'm currently in the WarGeeks guild - but it's turned into a ghost guild as everyone's playing & thriving in WoW now.

I'll have a chat with the guys and see if it's a problem with me taking my chars across. Another mate of mine also ordered Guild Wars and we'll most likely start questing together from scratch.

Which is the favoured class at the moment? I enjoyed my ranger, but I got pwned badly with him. All I remember is that necro's owned all over with their damn minions...

Ah Hey, Voicy. Nice to see you getting back into GW. :)
I cannot believe I have missed this whole thread...

If a char is invited (doesn't matter which one) your whole account is moved automatically to that guild and their Guild Hall. Juts make sure you give the char's name you want to have listed in the Guild listing all the time, you don't want a sucky name there ;)

There are actually quite a few favorite classes:

Necro
In PvE - Necro's are very versatile, with them being able to be MM's or SS (Spiteful Spirit), which is a Curses necro. Recently with the Ritualist Spirit buffs, the Necro's are even playing as Spirit Spammers (due to their inherent energy bonus form Soul Reaping).
They make excellent farmers too, for loot, solo or in a team.
In PvP - There are Necro Spike builds, but they have counters and people consider these guys to be lame. Curses Necro is the most popular in PvP (GvG) and MM / Spirit Spamming in the lesser PvP arenas.

Warrior
In PvE - They are knowns as tanks and general damage dealers. This is one of the most commonly played classes. They have great farming / running versatility too, solo or in a team.
In PvP - If you don't have a warrior or 2 in your team, you are doing something wrong. They are generally the Tactic and Strategy callers. Warriors have the highest and most consistent DPS overall in the game.

Monk
In PvE - As they say, everybody needs a monk, right? This is true. They are always required in any team, unless going for alternative's like Renewal healers (ele's) or Rit Resto healers. Generally, Monks are the way to go, since they have more consistent and powerful heals. They are excellent farmers too, whether it be Solo or in a team.
In PvP - The same as warriors, there are always at least 2 Monks in a balanced GvG team and they rock in the other arenas too with completely different builds, like Smiting in JQ (Jade Quarry, a Factions Arena) and AB (Alliance Battles, also Factions).

Rangers
In PvE - They are great with survivability and being able to carry disruption. This is one of their strong points. Rangers have quite a few builds at their disposal. Barragers, Pet masters, Interupter, Degen, etc. They are very popular and lots of people use them for Farming / Running too, in solo or a team. They can even do Spirit Spamming with their Expertise attribute.
In PvP - These guys are rock solid in a PvP setting. They feature just as much as Warriors and Monks in a GvG team. You carry at least 2 interruptions otherwise you are doing a spike build. Against a good Ranger - Monks, Mesmers, Ele's and Necro's stand no chance. You can even take down Sins and Warriors if you have the right build... as I said they have great versatility.

Ele's
In PvE - Known as the Nukers in a team - High damage in a short amount of time, i.e. seconds. Highest Energy Pool to use that high damage spells. They have great versatility in being able to either play a tank, even better than Warrios can, and / or slow / disrupt / protect with their Water / Earth lines or uke with the Air / Fire lines. They have very good farming vesatility too.
In PvP - The Water / Air ele's are the lines that get the most play in a PvP type setting. The lesser arenas feature Fire and sometimes Earth ele's, but this is likely a gimmick / tank build. They are even used as runners in GvG, with some Rit skills for party healing, etc.

Mesmer
In PvE - This is probably the least played class, because people perceive them to be weak and useless. Together with Rangers, this class has the best interrupt / disrupt and shutdown skills. They have very specific skills in teams and certain builds are mostly played, like a VoR Mesmer (Visions of Regret). It's a Domination Mesmer. They have some farming builds, but no where near as versatile as Sins, Necro's, Monks, Warriors, Ele's, Rangers, Derv and even Rits.
In PvP - These guys rock in PvP, being able to fulfill other caster roles with ease, due to their Fast Cast attribute. You see these guys play either Domination / shutdown / interrupt in GvG or Curses (with Necro secondary) or Water spiker (using Ele Secondary) or some other spike builds. They are probably the only class that can kill any other class with ease, i.e. melee and casters.

Sins
In PvE - OMG, they are the kings of PvE, on quite a few different levels. They have the best farming versatility in that they have Shadow Form. This means you are invulnerable and it can be maintained indefinitely. Only a few (very few) certain areas this build does not work. They have great DPS, with combo chains, but they are more fragile than warriors. They are good runners due to SF.
In PvP - They do not really feature in high-end PvP, it they do, it is likely to be in a Spike build, lately it is to do with Paragon spike skills. In the lesser Arenas, there are quite a few other builds that are being played, they are very good and can take Monks down within seconds, and so any other casters and even Warriors / Rangers.

Dervs
In PvE - they are very much like Sins in PvE, but they lack the great farming build which is SF. They are fun to play with high DPS probabilities. And of course they don't have the armor of a warrior. They have some farming versatility, with some solo builds, and they are arguably the best runner (running people from A to B for ingame money) in the game. The builds that get most play is the Avatars. They can even do some fairly decent healing and increase the damage output of a minions via Orders.
In PvP - Once again, same as Sins, they do not really feature, other than in a gimmicky Spike build. In the lesser arenas, quite a few builds are being played and they have some survivability to them as well. Some Orders / healing builds have been used in certain arenas, like HA (Heroes Ascent).

Rits
In PvE - With a recent buff, these guys are the new kings. Spirit Spamming has received a serious boost last month, and this is the new IMBA build. Previously it was Discord-way or Sabway (which all featured Necro's), it is now Spiritway (still featuring some Necro's ;) and then some Rits and damage dealers). These guys literally run through HM areas for vanquishing, etc. They have great farming versatility too.
In PvP - They are mostly used as flag runners in GvG and then healers / damage dealers in the lesser PvP arenas. There is a new gimmick build out for GvG with 4-5 Rits using Ranger skills to Spike, with life Stealing form the Rit line.

Paragons
In PvE - These guys are getting the worst rep, they only have really one role and that is for Support and to keep people alive. Don't make a mistake, these guys can kill too and have great Spiking capabilities. There is one specific build almost everyone expect you to run and that is the Imbagon. In HM areas and even the Elite missions areas this guy is GOD. He keeps your party up under ridiculous pressure. (I played a revised build of the Imbagon on my Necro when we did DoA (Domain of Anguish, NF end-game Elite mission area) :D ). They are the worst farmers of all the classes.
In PvP - Well, they very rarely feature, but as of last month with some buffs to the paragon line, they are being run in the midline in GvG and have great Party support and Spiking ability. Like previously mentioned there is an A/P build that uses Paragon skills for Spiking. rawr won their 11th Gold Cape with 2 paragons in the midline, because they are so good to support the team and mitigate damage.

Anyway, think that's about it for a summary.

Thanks very much lildeath! That must've taken a while to write. I appreciate all the info!

I played an assassination rogue in WoW which was awesome, with many similar feats as the assassin in GW. Right now I'm toying around with my ranger and Dervish...I immediately notice the spike damage of the Dervish, but I'm enjoying the ranger's play as well...

I'm pretty keen on doing pre-searing ascalon again with my mate when he starts playing - I'm thinking of maybe rolling an ele or necro then as he's keen on going as a warrior. Would've been nice if you could choose any class to play on any campaign if you had all the keys.

The one thing that is different from the sin in GW is the way attacks work. You start with a main attack, then an offhand attack and then a dual attack. Normally, you can't do a offhand attack before doing a main attack. There are a few skills where you can skip an attack, but they usually require a condition/hex or similar.

Sins also tend to be a bit more squishy compared to warriors and dervishes, in my experience.

The campaigns are all dirt cheap atm and you just need factions and Eye of the north.

You could get that for about R80 each.

No Problem. It didn't take that long, it just rolled off my mind as I was thinking of the different classes and doing comparisons. I didn't have to think much since GW comes naturally to me - After more than 3 years (closer to 4 these days), I am still an addict. :)

You cannot go wrong with an Ele or Necro, both are awesome to play. A MM in the early parts of Prophecies, even the whole campaign is simply imba ;)
My Necro is my second char, which I also started in Prophecies and she became my main.

You can pretty much choose any class already... The 6 core classes you can create in any of the 3 campaigns - Warrior, Monk, Ele, Necro, Mesmer, Ranger.
It is really only Factions and Nightfall that have the specific classes, in addition to the core classes - Factions has Assassins and Ritualists, Nightfall has Paragons and Dervishes.
So, in these 2 campaigns you can create 8 of the classes.
Prophecies only has the 6 core classes.

And yes, the campaigns are not expensive either. They even dropped since I lats bought, R86 per campaign at Take2 - http://www.take2.co.za/list.php?type=2&qsearch=Guild+Wars

My mate whose no longer playing gave me a metric bumload full of mats / ectos/obsidian shards / platinum etc. I'm trying to save it to get my gear sorted. I just havent decided for which char I'll be doing it though.

I haven't played my Dervish in years - and I'm enjoying both the lvl 10 ranger and the lvl 6 ele. At least I have a Nevermore flatbow (CE) for the ranger.

So me being the clever idjit ... I run out of bag space in catacombs last night and decide to dump some blues ......... and 12 Red Iris flowers >.<

Only late last night did some oke tell me what they're used for. I coulda kicked myself! :mad:

Anyway, I'm busy collecting them now for my 3rd vision headpiece, since I already have all the other collector's armor on my ELE.

Would you guys recommend I go for the headpiece or the 5 slot minibag? Both go for 50 flowers each, but I can buy the bag in post-sear for 2plat500gold. I'm lvl 7 now and still keen to stay in pre-searing for a little while. (At least until my mate's done all the quests too.)

I seared @ lvl 10 with my ranger previously. What level would you guys recommend I do so on my ELE? (Fire damage is insane on that char...and having taken monk I don't often go below 80% health in multiple mob fights... looks funny though because now my guy is an "E/MO" :o)

I vividly remember the charr behind the wall in pre-searing owning me 6-love and I'd like to dish out some payback. I'm surprised how hard this ELE hits. Plus I see quite a few lvl 17 okes lurking around in pre-sear (probably to get their chiefmince).

So back to my original Q...is it worth farming Red Iris Flowers for the 5 slot bag & Headpiece... or just head piece ... or just bag?

It doesn't take long to reach lvl20. Prophecies has the slowest leveling speed, so I'm not so sure about it. Factions is the fastest to level, and Nightfall somewhere inbetween.
It's possible to get to lvl20 in pre-searing, although it's not easy, or so I read. I think there are some king of title you get if you manage it.

As for the farming, it's basically your choice. Once you reach post-searing you'll probably replace the headpiece at some point. The bag you'll probably keep permanent and upgrade later with a scroll to 10 slots.

Yeah this is the problem I'm facing ... the headpiece seems to be valuable for low level players - since even the NPC is very well hidden away in a cave.

Rune of Holding doesn't work on the bag - and you also can't salvage items that are being stored in the bag either.

I need to find out what items to keep for mats and what to just chuck...

In pre-searing everything is valuable lol... specially bags. I leveled my rit to 20 in about 5 hours, easy in factions, get a lvl 20 to run you to Kaineng doing the missions along the way, takes about an hour and you should be lvl 10 by then, from there he gets you to eotn and then you will have lvl20 stats and will get loads of xp for doing the quests. In prophecies though you have to get to Lions Arch first and that takes a while.

Endev8003

What type of bag is it? As far as I know, all of the bags can be upgraded. Only the belt and the armor bag can't be upgraded.

As for the headpiece, I checked the wiki site. Only valuable thing is that it has a +1 attribute that's dependent on what rune you use to upgrade it. So if you use a +1 Fire rune, it will add another +1 Fire. The Third Eye's in post-searing lacks this attributes. But in post-searing you can get a type of eye for each attribute. So it's useful if you have the rune you want, otherwise I'm not so sure.

As for mats, get the mats storage space from the xunlai agents. I chuck all my mats in there. There is probably some other profession that uses the mats in crafting. You can also build up some good stacks and sell them that way.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Small_Equipment_Pack

Acquisition

* Small Equipment Packs can be bought from merchants for 2 Platinum 500 Gold (or 2 Platinum from Alliance Discount Merchant).
* They can be acquired from Professor Yakkington for 50 Red Iris Flowers in pre-Searing Ascalon.
* Crafted by Pokhe for 5 Silver Zaishen Coin and 50 Gold.

[edit] Notes

* This pack cannot be upgraded with a Rune of Holding.
* Items cannot be salvaged while in the Equipment Pack.
* Dye can be applied to the Equipment Pack but has no visible effect on the color of the bag.
* If oftained from Pokhe, the Small Equipment Pack has a sell value of 50 Gold instead of 1 Platinum 250 Gold.

[edit] Trivia

* This item was added in the April 23rd, 2009 update.
* The axe seen on the icon is a Hatchet.

Yep - I have storage on my two other chars - but you can't access it in pre-searing. I have quite a bundle of mats in my materials tab, and equally many dyes.

Speaking of - where can you find out what the prices for dyes etc is when trading. On my young ELE I've picked up 2 purples, a blue and a white dye in the 1st 6 lvls of questing so far.

I thought it might be that bag. It's useful, since it's an extra to the other bags. If I had to choose between the equipment pack and the third eye, I'd go for the pack. 5 extra bag spaces is always useful, since GW does have limited bagspace.

Hmmm ... ok I'll have to go for 100 flowers then :p

Nah - I'll get the bag for now.

Now onto skills... I'm assuming I focus all my talent points into Fire Magic and leave some in Energy regen? I'm not too bothered with healing/protection spells as the ele spell that converts 200% energy usage into health seems to work well enough.

I tried air magic, but ... *meh*. Them fireballs do crazy damage!

Thanks to Chris_H and his leet skills I managed to hook it a bit in post-searing.

My newly rolled ELE (Emo) is now my highest lvl'd char @ 12.

Chris_H, I finally got a (gold) Fire Wand (fire magic req=10) from some oke that I bought for 500g. It's working pretty nicely and I no longer use my nab blues. :o

I _REALLY_ need to work on my pulling skills as I died about 9 times during the "fetch my girlfriend's ashes at some altar" quest. Trying to kill mobs with a -60% debuff on you is not as cool as it looks. I would kill 1 mob, then party dies - rinse and repeat.

Quick off topic question:

What should I do with purple weapons that I find? Vendor/Salvage? Reason I'm asking is because nobody ever buys it in trade. Which leads me to Q2: Is there some sort of listing online showing the approximate pricing for items to make sure you're not getting ripped off when buying, or charging too litte/much when selling?

Nice one on the wand, now you just need a good offhand! As for the purples, I ALWAYS vendor them IF I even pick them up. I only pick up purples in armor as they can be Major Vigor runes. I don't tend to sell a gold weapon either as it takes too long unless it is a rare item. I usually take the best upgrades out of the weapon, vendor the weapon and then use the mods or sell them on the market, but then again only if the mod is perfect.

*Edit: though at your level, you will need as much gold as possible to get better armor until you get to max armor and to get better weapons and for skills/spells so I would pick up everything and vendor it, and if you have time to wait, rather save your golds and sell them as unidentified (unids) @ 4k for 7.

uhhhh ... ok. I'll just chuck them one side for now.

I think I finally realized what's happening in the game. I had no idea how to do missions. I thought it was a quest you'd have to pick up. Only later did I see it's in your group manage tab under "enter mission" or some such. :o

What I would _REALLY_ love to get my hands on is a map of all the outposts etc. in the area so that I can unlock them when I'm questing about. I've tried to explore as much open areas as I could while doing quests, but it'll just make life much easier if I can get these towns on my map for faster travel.

Chris_H
15-09-2009, 09:41 AM
Yeah, if you explore while doing quests or missions from the start you will take forever to complete a campaign. I would suggest doing the story missions and only quests that offers skills/skillpoints/weapons/attribute points. Once you've completed a campaign all of your lvl 20 characters can access HM for that campaign. In HM you can vanquish the area (killing ever single monster) and work on your VQ title track. While doing this you have to explore the entire area anyways so instead of doing it twice only do it once.

Thanks Devill - I think I checked out the missions list one. That's eventually how I figured out how to start missions. :o I must say, of the 3 missions I did, they're not too bad with henchies thus far.

I actually commented to a guildy of mine last night that GW is a lot more technical than WoW etc. in terms of strats / builds etc.

Not exactly the type of game for the "Less QQ, moar Pew Pew" crowd.

I'm slowly starting to learn more about my Emo, something I found useful (not sure if it's dumb or not) was to cast an AoE - then direct my partymembers to go there with the little green flag - normally my healer getting chased around by charr. That way AoE hits more of them. (I didn't have 66% speed debuff kiting skill equipped, ok. :o)

Chris_H
15-09-2009, 11:11 AM
hehe, see that's where henchies suck, the only way to flag them is by flaggin all at once, if you had Koss or Jora (warrior heros) you can flag him/her alone to take agro and keep the war alive with healing / prot spells while the rest of your team finish the mobs off... that what I do with my war anyway, flag everyone just outside agro range and have my healers keep me alive while I triple chop them monsters to pieces :D

Right - so what's the best way to level?

Just by doing the main quests 1st? - then coming back for the 2ndary quests?

I ran out of quests in all my zones until I eventually discovered the missions unlocking new areas. I just don't want to get to a stage where a mission LOCKS a previous area that I did not finish quests in (similar to how searing locked you).

Right now I'm on 10 skill points for Fire Magic & about 5 or 6 into energy storage.I've tried finding "leveling builds" but everything is lvl 20 stuff. It's working ok for now, so I'll stick to it. I just need to work on my energy management. I'm using 2 spells to cut down on energy usage & boost energy regen, but I'm still pooped in many big fights. I should conserve my AoE dmg methinks...

So the question begs: Why are they there? What are they trying to protect? The 1 lvl10 hydra "Meteor shower"'d me flat on my butt while I was trying to cast. Damn NPC haxx!

EDIT: Apparently it's an area where you to a titan's something quest.

http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon's_Gullet

It also sports the following bosses:

* Warrior10 (27) Shist Bogsifter (except during The Titan Source quest)
* Necromancer15 (27) Morl Grell
* Mesmer11 (27) Ritt Windmelt
* Mesmer11 (27) Gyst Hurricane
* Elementalist14 (28) Vrek Qwek Spek

Thanks man! I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

I'm lvl 15 now and pooning the hood. I'm at the Horse Shoe mines now doing random stuff. It's actually becoming rather cool now. A party of 6 take a lot of admin and my healer still dies whenever I turn my back.

I just keep running out of quests. Got no more from Yak's camp :( Next up is the Borin*'s pass mission

Pretty bad ass indeed but find it's heavy on energy, takes long to recharge and a Mesmer foe can interrupt you on it easily.
I would recommend: Meteor > Imagined Burden > Meteor Shower

Btw has any one here ever tried to hatch a MoA bird?? :mad:
I will NEVER do that IN my LIFE again - straight 7 hours work
Come to see if it's worth much - 15k :mad:

Elite skill that recharges the nesxt spell instantly + fast cast spell from asuran + Fire attune + mesmer signet that gives 20 nrgy when your below 18 nrgy+ Meteor shower + 3 other skills = Meteor shower every 15 secs ;) Works well with some nice tanking or a good mm.

Oi! Stop speaking forrin in my fred :mad: You okes are making my brain hurt :(

Nah - I'm keen to get my hands on an elite skill. Right now I'm hitting 129-160 with my Fireball & doing about 95 with lava rain thingum. Only once did I get a hit of 207 in, but that was on a lower level target. Last night was the 1st time I got above 200 on a lvl 8+

This emo of mine seems to be hitting nicely, I was sceptic of casters beforehand... It just takes forever to level. I'm doing about 50% of a level per night.

I got this journal after finishing up: Round One: Fight! in Gunnar's Hold.
I needed those Norm skills + Xandra for my collection.
SO I came out with my Bison Cup , Skills, Hero and a journal ...
Anyway wiki'ed it.
Told me I needed the following:
Incubator Kit:
* 50 Spiritwood Planks
* 10 Steel Ingots
* 5 Platinum
So I need to jump to Factions to Gyala Hatchery to go get it.
Then I need Items in this Incubator:
* 1 Hardened Moa Egg
In Ascalon there is a bunch of Moa birds nests so you go grab the egg. Once you have it you need to Harden the egg. So you have to jump to Factions go to Echovald Forest and stand there in a waterfall
* 1 Honeycomb
No one would sell me theirs for 5k even, so had to go up to GWEN do a norm quest that offers one as a reward
* 1 Volcanic Rock
Jump to Ember Light Camp to go get this Rock
* 1 Branch of Juni Berries
I had to do three quests to finally get the quest that offers me these Berries. These three quests had me jumping around Nightfall.
* 1 Herring
Jumped to Fisherman's Market there in Proph where I had to go collect Scale Fins ... after 10 minutes and 1 fin went to LA and luckly some one knew what I was doing and sold me the other fins. So jumped back to Fishermans went to trader got my fish
* 1 set of Nesting Material
So in order to get this nesting you need 5 Skree Wings, so jump back to Nightfall and need to run to an outpost called Yahnur Market and that was a fight to get there ... all them frogs! Then i needed to go farm for wings .. hahah .. he...

So once the Incubator was full with everything I thought great stuff, lets go get my bird - YIPPY (this was like 3 hours and it was all done).
So how do you hatch it??
No you need this larva strike to hit in Sorrows Furnace during the quest "The Final Assault". Cool jumped to War Camp and ye ... that is when I started to pray this bird was worth a lot. Any one here tried the Sorrows Furnace quest: Into Sorrows Furnace ??
I found out then why this place was added as Prophs Elite Dungeon :mad: 4 hours later finished the quest got the final quest - hatched the dumb bird :D
Went to Kamadan so proud of myself :D
and went: PC moa mini unded
2 seconds later - 5 people answer - 15k
I didnt look @ my pc the hole day :D

Very nicely put ;) + 40/40 in hand and an Ele becomes one of the most deadly players in the game. Still hate (more scared of them) is Mesmer PvP. They mop the floor with me :confused:

If you start a char in NF you also level fast-ish....

Factions = fastest leveling
NF = Second fastest
Proph = Slowest

Ag I'm enjoying the scenery. I just wish I had a Haxx Imp. :/

I had a nasty surprise when I got off noob island in Nightfall and found all mobs to be lvl 20 :(

Chris_H told me where to get better armor at the command post, 60 Armor (+1 energy regen) vs. my current 30 Armor (+1 energy regen), but it'll cost me 11,500g. I'm not sure whether it's worth going for (and it looks kinda ghei) or if I should just wait until I'm 20 and then get prestige armor or whatever the order of the day is. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do when I get to lvl 20. Apparently Hardmode stuff and rolling alts. :p

Get max armour as soon as possible.

The elite armours will set you back about a min of 50 000 gold + materials (prob another 8-10 000 gold worth).

Some armours can go well over 200 000 gold.

I have enough plat/mats on me (and ecto's) to finance 60k worth of armor. I just dont see the point in spilling 12k on armor now and 2.5lvls down the line get new armor anyway.

What is obsidian armor for Ele's going for now anyway? (I guess I could just look on GW wiki)

Which armor would you guys recommend I hit at 20? As I doubt I'll be able to afford a full set of obsidian just yet.

The armor level will stay the same from now on. It won't get better, will only look prettier. In NF you will be able to get armor later in game but you will struggle if you don't have max armor. The same in Proph, you will only get better armor again at Droknars Forge and you have quite a way to go until then. I would suggest the same as Devill and get max armor now. Then save until you get to the point where you can get elite armor which is usually around the end of the campaign. As for lvl20, fighting will be the same, nothing special comes after that, only extra skillpoints when you level. HM will only be unlocked after you completed a campaign and your character is level 20.

As Chris H said the armour does not become better... This is GW not WoW :p

The stats stay the same it just becomes all sparkly :D Get max armour now and save up for the elite armour you want.

Obi armour: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Elementalist_Obsidian_armor

Thus 60 plat + 105 ectos (value of 420 plat) + 105 obi shards (300 plat in value) + sme cheap mats...

Holy guacamole!

I was lvl 17(39%) last night & faffed around a bit doing arb exploring to new outposts when I decided I'm going to rescue poor Koss over in Nightfallville. So then within a matter of an hour I leveled to 19 (35%)! ! !

You level like mad fast in the other campaigns! It took me more than an evening to clear a whole level otherwise...

Now I don't have to buy that ghei looking gear at the command post anymore & go straight for the elite edition ^_^

I checked out the Obsidian armor and it looks real ugly. I'm thinking of going for the elite iceforged set as it looks the nicest. Everyone else has such cool armor while the Ele's look like a bunch of lolfags. :( Unless there's random other armor that isn't showing up as armor sets on GW wiki...

My female ele is running around with Tyrian (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Elementalist_Tyrian_armor) in all white, in Kamadan she's blinding :) but then again I find the 'glow' effect in NF is a bit overdone.
