Hi all, sorry for the inconvienence.... ADSL modem seems to be having hassels (yes its the telkom one, what a coincedance)
01-04-2005, 11:19 PM
up and running!!!
01-04-2005, 11:32 PM
up and running!!!
Doug, you've gotta prove to us that this is viable. I really like what it does for my latency, but I need to know it's reliable.
On Monday/Tuesday I have to make my decision to cancel my contract (within 7 day cooling down period) and go back to ISDN or not.
02-04-2005, 12:31 AM
working on it. ADSL line seems to be stuffed at the moment for some reason!
02-04-2005, 12:39 AM
what a ****ing coincidence. Our backbone line is down (ADSL)... I apologize for this inconvinance.... please wait with us...

Well after talking to Telkom, they confirmed their exchange is down. Reference is 1ATK020405. Will keep you updated! I appologise for the inconvenience caused, but we should be back up and running in a few hours!
Thanks again to all.

Well I tried this morning, but it still doesn't work :(
@Razer0: I will do that :)...when it works.
02-04-2005, 09:12 AM
Yeah, I think Doug's sleeping...since he was still up after I went to sleep at 2am. :)
02-04-2005, 12:27 PM
No response from Dough, I'm guessing Telkom hasn't done their thing, cause I can ping his one IP, but not the VPN IP...
02-04-2005, 01:45 PM
Sorry guys.... was deep in sleep. At the office at the moment... seems the line is up.. anyone wanna try ? thanks

bobs uncle why dont u make a channel on shadowfire (irc.shadowfire.org) where u can get people to join and discuss this with them, get mirc and join #freedsl or whatever u choose to name the channel, would make communication easier

Im trying to test for unshaped, speed and ping tests but it seems to not be connecting. Can i send you my log, doug?
PS I have followed all the steps above with precision :)
*edit* Sorry, it DOES connect but no bandwidth comes through at all.

Hi, please refer to this:
It has the new config file we have been working with.
We noticed that over the ADSL cloud, there is a bit of packet loss, which causes the tls authentication to fail. We have up-ed the tls timeout window, and set the inactivity to 1 day (86400 seconds).
We have been testing on the ISDSL network over remote links, and everything works brilliantly. At times we are getting 200ms - 300ms pings to Overseas Mohaa, BF1942 and UT2004 servers.
Unfortunately, none us own a copy of WoW or NWN, so this testing was not available to us. Bandwidth has been restricted to some point on the VPN server, making sure no one can abuse it, and at the same time those playing games on the VPN get full highest priority to there services with only 2% packet loss at the maximum. This onec again is over the ISDSL network.
We are unable to test sevice providers such as MWEB, UUNET and telkom ISP.
