I've just registered:

http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/volunteers/index.html

I enjoyed being a volunteer at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 when it was in Cape Town, I was a usher so maybe I can do this too... would be great.

But FYI, register now if you're interested because...

Volunteer applications race towards 50,000 Friday 21 August 2009
People the world over are responding to the call to volunteer for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, with an average of 1,500 applications being processed each day.

I'm really hoping that becuase I've done a event before, I get "some" preference :)

I already entered. Never done some thing like this before though. It is a way to be a part of the World Cup since FNB doesn't want to sell me tickets.

Guys, just remember. If you think its an easy way to watch the games, think again. They keenly root out volunteers who think this. They will chew you up and spit you out, then carry on working.

Yeah. I'd hate to be at a game and not be able to watch any of it :(

Well I'd like to help out and be a part of making the world cup work.:D

Hopefully I get to see game though, if FNB ever realises that not every damn game is sold out and sells my my tickets.

I have no worries with not seeing the games. Soccer is not my game. I am more interested in being a part of the event itself. So bring it on. I'll be sure to tell them I don't like the game! ha ha

Well, let me say certain volunteers tried certain things at Loftus during ConFed cup. They came a swift and ubrupt second. I cannot stress the fact enough that the LOC is taking no nonsense. They are highly stressed and under immense pressure, and this will increase as the tournament approaches.

So anyone else got their email and phone call requesting they attend an interview later this month? I got mine for IT&T.

afaik the only ones who get any kinda of preference are those signed up in the special skills category. e.g. People speaking a suitable language like french or something.
