a question for vodacom3g.
A friend of mine is using a pre paid vodacom card and wants to switch over to contract because the R2 a meg is killing him, he does not want to swap sim cards and definatly does not want to loose his old number.
is he able to switch over to contract ?
he has hit a blank in every voda shop so far, they just want to sell him a new package

I don't think this is possible but have asked.

One question, is your friend going to use an add-on bundle and use his phone as a modem? And what size package?

Just to clarify, Snowolf, your friend must be using GPRS @ R2/MB on pre-paid, correct?
(i.e. friend has not bought a 3G phone or data card)

If your friend were to switch to a contract, would it still be a contract that allows cheaper GPRS, or would it be a 3G contract (i.e. what does friend want to do?)

It is posable.

I just moved from prepaid to contract and kept my old number. :)

I was also told by the voda shops it could not be done. At Vodeworld someone checked on the system as not all prepaid numbers can be changed to perminant numbers.

Phone Vodaworld or go see them (not a reseller) to find out.

Also just got confirmation it can be done, so I'd suggest you follow rabbiddog's advise and call before you go anywhere.
