ADSL slow and/or goes offline (TelkomSA)??

[Home ADSL (4Mbps) with TelkomSA]

Since this weekend (19 Sep. 09) my ADSL just loses connection from time to time and stays off for some minutes or sometimes even hours. In between it recovers, but is slow for long periods.

TelkomSA and Telkom Broadband Support Centres are expectedly clueless.

Anyone else experience connection issues lately? I'm in Bettys Bay (Cape), so it might be a local thing...? Also, I recently had to replace my modem/router (Netgear DG384) and network card, since the previous ones were fried by lightning (for the 2nd time) :(

did you check if box on your street if cables wernt fried and/or the exchange?

Well, it works 100% from time to time, sometimes even for a whole day, so I guess that rules out any lasting damage to any hardware.

must be the software they using then or in your setup

I'm experiencing the same and I'm with Mweb

I am also getting my connection closed more often than before (my signal clarity stats are still fine). It only lasts for a minute, but it's annoying and didn't happen before.

If I use IS then I don't get the problem. Looks like I'll have to call them if it doesn't get better soon.
