Well im still pee-ed off that we still have to pay for Wardens keep which is available on the day of release. Bioware confirmed the DLC will be supported up to 2 years. Looks like they're milking this cow.

Wardens keep and shale is available due to the pc version getting delayed twice to release with the consoles.
The DLC was worked on by a separate dlc team.
If the pc version was released in June when it was done then there would be no issues with people getting confused.
Also if you get the digital deluxe version you get wardens keep free, you don't get a map or tin case though.
Blame EA for it looking suspicious not BW.
Have been a Bioware fan since MDK and BG1 days and this does not suprise me under EA ownership. I don't think another team involved in the development is relevant. I take it that Wardens keep is similar to Watchers keep in BG2 expansion. Cost wise, getting the duluxe edition is not cost effective and too time consuming here in SA (6Gb download?).

The other involved is relevant. While the main DAO team was getting the console version in shape for the release, the dlc team was working on dlc. The PC team was already done and had by then been put on either of these two teams or put on the me 2 team.
I didn't say it was easy to get but it is available. Download is about 16 gig.
They did give us shale/stone prisoner dlc for free , knowing EA they probably wanted to charge for that as well.
I really don't think BW is trying to rip anyone off here. PR wise it probably would have been a better tactic to release warden's keep two weeks later but from a gamer's perspective I would not like that. I want the content when its ready not when it won't cause issues with pr.

If I remember correctly, Wardens Keeps is about how the Grey Wardens got kicked out of Fereden (SP?), this is a crucial story content of the game and should be included in the original and not as a dlc. I finished ME1 under 20hrs but at least had bring down the sky which I felt was still too short and incomplete, and I hope DA:O'S advertised +70hrs is true. This is where the industry is heading and I'm not liking it.

Wardens Keep was never part of the original game. It adds to the lore of the game but its not crucial to the story or the game. Yes it explains some of the history but I don't feel that not having it is going to have a major influence.
Well, we will know when we get the game next month on our first playthough without WK. Too many RPG developers are known to cut massive content due to time/budget constraint. Don't know about you but I'm the kind of guy that likes to play a complete game and not get some additional content here and there in my second or third playthrough. Remember you only get to play DA the first time once unless you go for a memory erase :D

Well personally I will be downloading everything that's available before I play first time. I have to download my 3 ce items and the stone prisoner anyway. so may as well grab warden's keep while I am at it.
Most people will probably download it before playing.

I have. I have created 4 characters so far. Looks excellent, lots of facial options. I like the option to customize your character portrait.
