In my "Storm" missed calls are not displayed either by name or number. Instead it shows all such calls as 'Unknown Number'.
How to make it show the name or the number of the missed call?

Are you sure caller ID's enabled on your contract?

It's because the person that called you dialed private number to you, My samsung says the same

I am not sure. Yesterday I had placed a Query in vodacom4me site and was given a Track number. Of course the status shows as Pending now. In the meantime I thought whether I need to do anything in the Settings of the Phone and hence sought help here. Ok I shall await the outcome.

Are your numbers stored twice on the phone/sim ? If the same number is stored twice it usually wont display.

If the number is stored in your address book/contacts list twice, then it will usually only display the number, and not the name, in your call logs, and SMS inbox. This is how it works on Nokias, I'm not sure about BB.

To determine if it's stored twice, the only way I've found is to first determine who's number it is, and then try to figure out under what names / aliases they go by, and then check the address book for this.

If all numbers are displaying as private on your phone, then CLIP (calling line identification presentation, just a fancy word for Caller ID) isn't activated / loaded on your account. Just phone the Vodacom call center free from your phone, and they should be able to tell you & activate it instantly..

Good! I checked under Contacts and found Sim Phone Book is empty. So all numbers are stored in the phone memory.
Yes, you along with Syndyre and blaaislaai are right. My CLIP is not activated. Instant activation seems to be out of question. I now received an sms asking for a "signed company letter head" which I faxed.

Yeah.. if you don't own the contract yourself, then it wouldn't be instant...

The status in the QueryTracker says CLOSED. Does this mean my problem is resolved? Well, when a missed call happens then only I would be able to verify. Till then 'Thanks everyone!'
