I have found a site in the USA that are selling GREAT cradles for $19.99 but the postage a is $35. So it seems 6 of one and half dozen of the other. No win situation in SA for iPhone accessories.
I will advise you to stay away from igear. The cradles they are selling you can pick up at the robots for R50 (I kid you not) I was fool enough to buy one from them HAVE A LOOK (http://bexcpt.blogspot.com/?zx=12b9eda96885bc95):mad:

The TomTom iphone cradle is now available, but pricey at R1200. But it does have the better GPS chip and speaker/mic.

I picked this up from http://www.proclipusa.com. These guys have a 2-part solution for vehicle-mounted cradles:
1) The Mount - This is the part the holder attaches to and is purpose-built for the particular vehicle.
2) The Holder - This is the part your device (in your case your iPhone) clips into

A bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. I really can't recommend these guys enough. All I had to do was plug my iPod integration cable into the bottom of the holder (including the seperately acquired Scosche Firewire/USB Charging adapter) and I was good to go - full integration.
