Yeah, he most likely has a 4Mbps ADSL connection at his place, and is sharing it over wifi.... not quite the same.

Hehehe, now all they got to do is buid the things.
Wonder what freq it will run at? Though I saw something about 60GHz?
Is that even a free and open band, or would we have to pay licence fees for that?

figuratively speaking I meant... and anyway... 300 Gb would take me 42 seconds to transfer using this technology. A whole hard drive in less than a minute.

Been reading this and noted a coupla things which are in the article but aren't blatantly highlighted.
If you read point 5, it implies they are having to some special stuff just to get it beyond 10 meters, so whats the range, 20 meters? Point 4 also implies ultra low range.
Now, I have to say, since a piece of cat 6 ethernet cable wihch can do 10G is gonna cost a HELL of a lot less, I'm just not sure I see the point :) Add to the fact that I'm pretty sure the copper is gonna be more stable, and since point 5 also implies that they are using direct beams, the other advantage of copper is that it will be able to go through/around walls etc.
Call me a skeptic, and I'll be quite happy if I'm proved wrong, but I'm just not sure I see the point.

I did not want to be the first one to burst the good news bubble for fear of being flamed!!
Very short range and geographical reach with small cells - at what cost???

If you walk through the data stream, does your hair start frizzing?

I want to be able to just place a laptop in close vicinity, and instantly its wirelessly linked to a large monitor and a wireless keyboard. To unplug you just pick up the laptop and walk away. Yeah, now that would be useful. Wireless/pad charging would also be nice.

Yeah if you can send 7gbps with data, why can't you send wireless energy???
