Well, it is quite apparent that on the SGS (SAIX Game Service) forums you are not allowed to voice your disapproval about anything relating to Telkom for fear of being banned.
Read these threads:

There are over 4500 registered users on the SGS forum and I am certain many have ADSL. The least that could be done is inform people about the new capping system. The reason why it hasnt been done, is that many gamers will cancel their ADSL. Once again it seems like educated masses is what some people out there do not want.
It simply comes down to the fact that the consumer has the right to know.

Well, in the past we have been told how expensive international bandwidth is. What will the excuse be about local bandwidth?
The servers are there because so many gamers use ADSL. If all of us decide to stop playing, SGS will become unprofitable and shut down. SGS isnt free... all of us who play there pay for it.

Killadoob: You might not really feel affected because you got a 30GB AYCE account...I wonder what your reaction will be if they get forced to make it 3GB since most gamers are on the 3GB Shaped package?
SGS isn't a " free " gaming service, although they make you believe that. They get sponsored/funded by Telkom who in turn r3pe us with their atrocious prices but they like to use it as in excuse when a server goes down etc.
All the Cape Town gamers should move to Uninet.. pings to local servers are never over 80 (well for me anyway).. if my ping goes over 50 then I know someone else on the WAN is browsing :)

i do get that but even when i had a 3 gig cap which i did for nearly a year i played fine
local isnt capped yet so its full throttle
telkom could rape us like they are but they could also not host sgs or make us pay more im just happy they give us so many servers for free because i dont pay anyone for those servers even if i do pay for high price for my line and 30 gigs of info

From http://games.saix.net/cgi-bin/sgsbb/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=55;t=11172
In the last few weeks we have seen an increase of Telkom bashing posts popping up and this will NOT be tolorated. This forum is a games discussion forum and not a Telkom bashing one. If you feel the need to express how you feel about Telkom this is NOT the place to do it. Those who continue to do so will have their posts and accounts removed permenantly.
Need it any clearer that the SAIX forums are gagged?

oh thats the top post in the first forum, which is also named Announcements
The consumer has a right to know, 100% agree. But all they need to do is read and they would know. Not a particular great secret over there

Osama Bin Laden is providing a Games-Server environment.
The environment consists of:
1 x WEB Server.
1 x Forum Server.
1 x FTP Server, with 900 + GB of downloads available and kept up to date.
35 x Public Game Servers.
n x Clan Game Servers.
FREEEE BANDWIDTH, Including bandwidth that is utilised by international users during Clan Gaming, and sometimes on the Public Servers. BF 1942 is sometimed 60% international players.
Now - all Osama Bin Laden is saying, is: "Don't enter the free facilities that I am providing and badmouth me, use them, enjoy them, keep it clean in ALL contexts. Don't badmouth any organisation, including me."
Is that fair ? Well - I think so.

The thing with Telkom is that the more restrictive it becomes the more questions will be asked and the more peeved people there will be. The internet informs and peeps that use the net are some of the most informed peeps on the planet.
Questions will be asked at some point as to why rollout is so slow... The answer is bad service and foookina expensive products.
TELKOM SUCKS DONKEY POO!!!!
The people that think up these crappy service structures and high prices should develop some kind of pain somewhere!
In all fairness to the sgs chaps though there was a post which said the people could come and complain on mybroadband, which is probably a better idea anyway as the people who would come here to complain about the new limits would be dsl users, so potentially more members for the site

hey MaD,
what package are you on? I'm upgrading to the 128K package to play BF2. Will it be sufficient for a 64 player map? or any map?

This is old, if you dont like the rules, dont use it. Accept those terms, no one is forcing anyone on the SGS forum/servers.
It became so popular now, that everyone think the SGS servers is something they must have for free/available. Guess what, its not like that... If I had popular gaming server(s) I could justfully run it however I feel fit. Its your choice to stay.

256.. the 64k always had 7-8KB/s when I had that so I would reckon that the 128 would have great speed as well.. afaik BF2 chows around 16KB/s?
useless

i play using ISDN 128 and it runs the 64 player maps just fine. the only occasional issues you might find are either PB based or server based.
