Another One Bites The Dust?

Primrose, aka GlobalBraai, closed its doors last month.

Now the rumours are flying that, after two years of dilly dallying and shilly shallying by MWeb and M&G Media, the Mail & Guardian forums are about to do the same. Apparently MWeb tekkie PeterHD will set up a temporary look-a-like pending a decision by MWeb execs as to whether the game is worth the candle.

MWeb closed its own forums, a mirror of the erstwhile Mail & Guardian forums, quite some time ago. :wtf:

Spammers are a blight on any forum's landscape - luckily for us all there are plenty of awesome watchdogs ready to hit that RBP button so they can be dispatched.

I will miss the M&G Forum community & the warm familiarity and the often contentious debate, after so many years of lurking & reading & conversing there - it was a steep learning curve - my first forum and never to be forgotten.

I share your feelings but, with moderators no better than trolls, the forum was on the path to self destruction. M&G Media decided to dump it more than two years ago, and it is both malicious and stupid, not to mention unspeakably ignorant, to attempt to sheet home the blame to a single individual.

The "Mail & Guardian" moderators were given a mandate by those who appointed them, and they failed. Nothing else can explain what has happened. :(

MWeb is hosting the iAfrica.com website too.

The arrangement for MWeb to host the former M&G forum is only temporary. I have no doubt that MWeb will do what its directors deem best for it and for its corporate image. The old MWeb forums, a mirror of the M&G forums at the time, closed some years ago.

In the meantime PeterHD and MikeL will need to tread carefully. They won't want to wake up to a knock at the door ... like Bert Oosthuizen (ZASucks) did. :cry:
