ACTION: Mass Teleconference on MTN

We set a date and dial into a conference call at a set time and date.
Our aim is to beat the world record or at least set a South African Record
Objective is to get headlines and explain that we did it to show our disatisfaction with Telkom - pricing, price teiring, market strangulation etc etc etc

disgust and dissatisfaction with Telkom prices and policies saw the setting of a new world record for the maximum number of participants in a conference call

and, given that all participants had no alternative but to use the service provide by the fixed-line monopoly, a further record was set for the highest cost ever attributed to a conference call....etc etc

This has gone a little cold but esentially we would have to get MTN on board to host the conference - everyone goes out and buys a 4.99 starter pack or just uses existing cell number and pays for call on bill.
On said day at said time window, everyone phones the conference number and stays on line for say 5 minutes or whatever.
MTN monitor the call and count numbers.
Guinness Book of world records officiate.

tell press we did it to protest Telkom's pricing and telkom's abuse of their monopoly position on fixed line call rates and other services
hilight that Telkom double charge for ADSL
Hilight that Telkom do not offer boradband but less for more money all the
time

can someone from MTN confirm that we can have a conference call for more than 7 ppl or so, cos im pretty sure there is a limit set by the network, also the costs involved, especially for the person initiating the call, cos they pay an extra amount being the host (i think).

anyway can anyone from any network join in on the fun, or is this limited to MTN subscribers only?

and i agree on the date being set at least 2 months from the idea being introduced. everyone should set a reminder on their phone :)
