View Full Version : What's with the kicking?

I'm pretty much a noob to online gaming, having stepped out of the IT game to a large extent and can now finally enjoy the internet for the fun things in life like gaming. Instead of the endless search for WinXP drivers and fixes.

So I start playing Amercan Army, all went well on Friday evening, but on Saturday morning I ran into a server, with obviously a lot of kids playing (judging from the ruling conversation) on it. Now being a noob it takes me a while to get the enemy dead and so on. Then I get "hit F5 to kick me - player is idle" What's up with that? It's like trying to find a job: "Sorry, not enough experience" So how do you get experience if you're gonna get kicked the whole time?

Any ideas or thoughts welcome :o

Some servers are like that, and many people don't understand the game and think it has to be played like counter strike. They usually run at full speed from spawn end up dead in the first 30 seconds and are then too impatient to wait until the end of the round.

Generally its best to play on servers that have admins on most of the time. There are three South African servers that i would recommend all hosted by MWEB. They all have different maps on rotation and at most times you should find an admin on. They will do their best to make sure you and the other players have a good time on the servers.

Just let them know you are new to the game and they will help you out, in fact so will most of the local players

The servers can be accessed by pressing the ` to bring the console up and typing
open xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the xxx's are the server adresses

MWEB1 - 196.2.128.103
MWEB2 - 196.2.128.104
MWEB3 - 196.2.45.11

For news on the local AA scene one can visit

www.americasarmy.co.za

where most of the locals tend to gather, it is also usefull for finding which servers the locals are playing on.

If you want to get to know the guys or talk directly to an admin you could join the Team Speak Server

ts.americasarmy.co.za

This can be downloaded from www.americasarmy.co.za/downloads and there are also instructions for setting it up on the site

Anyway I hope you enjoy the rest of your AA experience and hope to see you online sometime

Great, thanks Amberstorm. I had quite a good game on one of the MWeb servers last night. Although I still do tend to die more than kill, but I'm sure that will change soon. By the way, you would'nt happen to go by the name of Firestorm as well? Just wondering.

I'll definately check out the site. Good to know that I had the right idea about how to play the game, after all it's about strategy as much as everything else, and the best strategy is not necessarily to Go Hard and Fast, that normally gets me killed

Yah I normally play CS on the MWeb servers as well, they keep it clean there and we have a lot of fun.. although I'm usually the first to get 0wned, even with my new gaming mouse and pad *cry* suppose there's no patience for some people :)
