Proteas captain Graeme Smith has launched an astonishing attack on former SA captain, and current selector, Kepler Wessels on Twitter after the team came under fire for their poor performance at the World Twenty20.
The Proteas were knocked out by Pakistan in the Super Eights and Smith, along with the rest of the team, has been widely criticised for the disappointing campaign.
Smith launched an attack on Wessels and other former players who have questioned the team’s showing in the Caribbean.
"Find it amazing that kepler can sit and say should have picked a younger squad when he was 1 of the selectors who chose it!unbelievable!" Smith wrote on Twitter.
The Proteas skipper followed it up with: "Atleast we own up to playing poorly.but all these so called experts/ex players im not sure I see a winners medal hanging round there necks!"
Smith has led the Proteas for the past seven years and he is finding himself under increasing pressure to turn things around with the South Africans suffering a poor run of form.
The Proteas have stayed in the Caribbean and will play the West Indies in three Tests, four ODIs and two Twenty20s beginning May 19.
