I'm royally screwed!!!

"Little" problem here. I'm too far away from an exchange for ADSL and can't seem to find any WISP's that operate in my area.

I live in Protea Village in Brackenfell and the best speed at which my dail-up connects is 26kbps.

Does anyone know of any WISP's or other ISP servicing that area, because my phone-bill is killing me.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know much about WISPS in that area.
Depending on what you wanna do, what about ISDN or MTN/Vodacom's EDGE/3G?

If you wanna download lots or do gaming, and you don't mind doing it at nite/weekends, then 128 kbps ISDN with Infinitcall (if you can still get it) is an option.
Otherwise, if you only want to browse and do emailing, MTN/Vodacom is a good option. Speeds vary between about 40-60 kbps on GPRS, 140 kbps on EDGE and higher on 3G. See the various forums for info.

I use MTN prepaid for surfing at R1 per MB. I consider ADSL still too expensive.

There are options to get Telkom to speed up the ADSL installation process. Search for topics by Simons about ADSL in Cloetesville.

Depending where in Protea Village you stay, but you should be able to get signal to Uninet, Wireless Online & if you are desparate Netcontacts. There is probably lots of trees around there, but check out these guys above for line of site test.
