Howzit guys, root friends! So, what are all you guys running on your phone and what have your experiences been?
I'm currently on the [Froyo] DJ DROID v1.0-R1 BETA - with HTC Sense - HD 720p - base 2.04 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=720294) ROM
Only thing has have noticed about the "install to SD card thing" is, when you plug the phone into the PC and use Disc Drive, it breaks all the app wigdets on the home screen.

you on desire? which root method did you use?

Yes, HTC Desire, use the MoDaCo r6 release (http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/307365/14-jun-r6-riskfreeroot-htc-desire-rooting-guide-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/).

Yeah, this actually made me reflash and then start installing apps on the phone instead of the SD card. The ROM is perfect now.
Anyway, I was running the Pays ROM for a few weeks until the DJ Droid ROM was released yesterday, so I'm using that now as well.

DJ Droid for me as well....SD card access tests are much better now, the HD recording is phenominal....Wifi is incredibly far reaching now as well! Quite impressed!
Had a biut of trouble with the rom though....I did not wipe data and so on on the first install, and I could not get into the bit where you add your Google log-in, no matter how/where I went. Google Talk did not work, gmail did not. Did the Data wipe thing, then it was fine, but it did not sync my google contacts for some reason, so I just imported it from my backup.
Still happily testing it away.

I currently have a 4GB standard card that came with desire, i ordered a 16Gb but im curios to find out if i can just copy everything over to the new card or do i have to format the 16Gb card as i did with A2SD, and all should work?

Awesome!!! Website to cook your own ROMs (http://cookandroid.com/). Cook your ROM on any of the following bases:
DeFrost 2.0
OpenDesire 1.5
ShadowFrost 1.4
Cyanogenmod 6
DJ Droid 1.0
PS: HTC Desire only.

That's cool and all, but you can essentially do most of that yourself anyway. When you download a ROM, you can just take out and add stuff as you please simply by unzipping, adding/removing apps/ rezipping :)

My latest:
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm106/TurboLeunis/snap20100714_174000.png
Rooted using r5
Started off with a MCR Sense+2.1 r3.1 ROM
Then tried out the MCR Froyo r21, which is a vanilla android
Since the uDK leak I've been using the MCR Froyo+Sense r4.
In truth, I REALLY prefer the Android vanilla "theme", with the exception of the trademark Weather/Clock widget from HTC, which is easily replicated using FancyWidgets.
The only reason I haven't moved back to vanilla Sense ROM is this issue I'm having with connectivity to my Wifi at work and home. Only prevalent in the Nexus Froyo ROM ports which is odd. I'm considering a Sense-less version of MCR Froyo-Sense r4 now.

18-07-2010, 08:41 PM
I am on Vodacom, mine did not work the first couple of times, untill I got the goldcard right. Easiest way to know, is to find out if the phone is branded or unbranded, suppose you could find that out from where you got it, not sure...

So far it seems that Vodacon handsets are branded, and MTNo serivce ever's handsets aren't.
Okay, been on LeeDroid v1.2b this weekend...sleek, fast and a dream to use! Downloaded the 1.3a today, gonna flash it in a few minutes...been awesome so far:-)
No Goldcard required for me on Vodacom. Received in the first week of release locally, maybe that's why?

Don't know, but I think just try it without one, and if it fails, create a goldcard and try again.

Right guys! Don't know how many of you are using LeeDrOiD Mod, but it has been upped to version 2.0! There are lots of optional custom themes and extra downloads included as well!
And let me be the first to congratulate (well, the first here I think) our own home grown trinityEon for the work he has done and posted on XDA! Very well done buddy, I am downloading LeeDrOiD 2.0a and your carbon theme as I am typing this! Good job and keep it up man!

I'm using LauncherPro and WidgetLocker at the moment - I like the clean look you can achieve by hiding the notification bar and having a widget clock rather than the Sense bar on the lockscreen... I've only just started really fiddling around with the phone's layout and whatnot; things aren't likely to stay unchanged for very long.

I was on LeeDroid 1.9 with A2SD+ for a day, but I think I did something wrong somewhere with the EXT partition... my phone conked out on me in a big way. I couldn't get half my software installed, the phone rebooted intermittently, everything that did run FCd... was not cool. And all that because I wanted the 512mb EXT partition so I could go on a market installing spree without worrying about storage space. So, I decided to go the complete opposite route of where I was heading. Dump Sense along with everything else that's non-essential, install what I'm actually going to use, and hopefully end up with a fast, clean, stable phone. So far so good - I've got most of what I want installed (including Nav) and I've got 55mb to toy with without A2SD+
Dunno if you've tried DeFroST yet, but it's also quite slick. It comes with the Cyanogen tweaks and the DeFroST setup proggie, which allows you to install kernel/notification bar mods and whatnot, is very nicely implemented.

Yeah I'm sure most of the other ROMs are great, but I am happy with LeeDrOiD for now... I am actually thinking of going to the Psychosis 5.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744879) ROM which is based on LeeDrOiD, just senseless, and a couple of tweaks here and there...

Hey man, Leedroid is quite fast when booting, except the first time after flashing, mine took 6 minutes one time... I am running 2.2d at the moment, and its so far the best I could get the battery. Also on LeeDroid, and I think also still 2.2d... It's a full Sense ROM so everything works as it does on the stock one. I'm trying to decide whether I should give DeFRoST/Launcher Pro a go again as it really does run amazingly well, but Sense's cloud integration is just so much better...

Yeah the LED notifications work :)
I am running Launcher Pro, I don't like sense anymore, but the ROM is just to good to pass by. But yeah I will stay on 2.2d for as long as possible, everything is working like I want it to at the moment! I tried Defrost as well but I had weird problems with the phone just not unlocking and the screen just staying black, forcing a battery pull and restart, but it could have just been something else I guess.

The rumours seem solid that the Desire will get the new Sense sometime next year anyway. Although, having a bit of history with HTC phones, I've seen XDA do some pretty incredible things. They'll crack it eventually.

On leedroid - first time rooting and rom. Works brilliantly. V2.2f with carbon theme - i like the transparent notifications. Also using launcher pro even though leedroid is a sense rom.
Only thing has have noticed about the "install to SD card thing" is, when you plug the phone into the PC and use Disc Drive, it breaks all the app wigdets on the home screen.
If you have apps2sd+ then there's no real need to install to sd card, either way don't move widget apps to the sd card.
I currently have a 4GB standard card that came with desire, i ordered a 16Gb but im curios to find out if i can just copy everything over to the new card or do i have to format the 16Gb card as i did with A2SD, and all should work?
I would think its exactly the same procedure, just format th 16gb to get the ext partition, and copy your files over from the sd card into the fat partition. Then run titanium backup to restore your apps.

So who has been playing around with one of the Gingerbread ROMs available? I myself have been running Oxygen v2.0-RC2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829734) on my Desire for a couple of days now. One thing that I have noticed is the change in battery life, for some reason, mine seems to last longer now and by longer I mean quite a bit longer! Usually when I get back from work around 17:00 my phone would be between 20 - 30%, and since I have been running this ROM it would be around 50% at that time which is very good for me!
Only thing still not working in Gingerbread ROMs is the video recorder, which is fine by me cause I don't use it that often... Other than that I have not found anything that doesn't work or that does not work better coming from Froyo! I would recommend everybody that can to have a look at it, very impressive!

I agree, been running Ginger Villain 0.4 for the last few days and the battery life is considerably better! I used to have to charge my phone every evening, now it honestly lasts 2 full days! Don't know how they have managed to do that, but it's awesome.
Been using my phone exactly the same, so it's not like I have stopped phoning less, if anything I may have been using it a bit more than normal over the festive season.
Honestly guys, if you can live without video recording, then give it a bash, you won't be sorry.

Any roms for better radio reception? The HTC keeps on losing signal (0 bars) for every cloud passing by where the N8 would drop to a minimum of 4 out of 7 bars. Right next to each other. I can hardly post here without pages failing to load (Using the HTC as modem).

Radio doesn't refer to fm radio. I think it's also known as baseband, and tells the phone how to prioritize signal power. This is what I gather, might be wrong.

Havent been working on it too much, but it doesn't seem to have any problems other than couple of tweaks that was not ported yet like the trackball wake and the likes. But coming from RC7 I don't see to much difference, it feels a bit snappier/faster though!
High quality video recording is working which was the only thing I could notice for day-to-day use on the RC versions.
A2SD+ is working for me, yes!
EDIT: It seems A2SD+ was not working, went down to 90mb with 15 installs. Found this though (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11688173&postcount=65), moves dalvik cache to SD that pulled my internal storage back to 140mb internal with same amount of apps on :)
