Hi all,

Got word today that the telkom technician will be at my place tomorrow to install my ADSL line.

I have started setting up my network, but am having some problems.
I have managed to get my GF's laptop connected to the Linksys router no problem, but I can't get my PC upstaires to connect. It keeps saying "Cable Unplugged". I have also tried plugging the cable into the laptop, no go...

I installed a new CAT5e cable just the other day because my ISDN line kept dropping, so probably highly un-likely to be a fault with the cable, but also not impossible :)

Any suggestions?

Does anyone here work as a network tech, or does anyone know of someone that would be prepared to spend an hour or so here tomorrow to give me a hand?
Job would possibly entail putting a new wall socket, testing the cable, and make up a 1m patch cable. I really don't want to go out and buy crimping tools and cable testers.

I'm in JHB, on the east rand (Boksburg).

TIA

Try reinstall the network card drivers, that'd be the next possible cause.

Have reinstalled them a couple of times. Initially, I was getting "Unable to find enough system resources" error. But that is fixed.

I almost 100% certain that it is not a driver problem. Like I said, I also tried the cable in the laptop, no results, and I know the laptops LAN drivers are fine, because my GF connects to the corporate LAN no problems

Try another cable with laptop. See if that works. Maybe try another port on the router?
