South Africans’ last hope for more competition in the country’s pay-TV market, Walking On Water Television (WowTV), is gearing up to launch a satellite TV service within the next couple of months.
TechCentral can reveal that WowTV plans to launch two bouquets of channels, one costing R49/month and the other R99/month. The low prices suggest the company is hoping to appeal to a broad market.

I think that WOW Tv is just another wasted license.

This is a Christian Pay-channel network. They push for conservative Christian rights and this is their target market.
Im not so sure if i would subscribe to such a Satellite Pay TV Channel - something tech-central omitted in saying.

Hmmm, I thought "Walking on Water" sounded a bit fishy.

Not sure how this is much different from what we already got seeing that we already have other "Christian channels" on our existing satellite pay TV packages... and i dont even watch them, i prefer going to church instead, so give me something i would like to want - God i already worship - i dont need conversion therapy ;)

Mangquku says WowTV will offer 10 channels on its premium bouquet, which will cost R99/month. A smaller offering, with about five channels, will cost R49/month.And for lunch we will be having a choice of 10 foods, for R99.
But, wait, there's less, for lunch you can have a choice of 5 foods, for R49.
What kinds of foods?
Why on earth would you need to know that?
Silly consumers!

Im offended that such a thing is even available in SA.

It will be totally shocking if Wow makes it a full year. There are enough Christian channels on dstv and top tv that this just seems pointless, but then there are a lot of CUM bookstores across SA so maybe I'm wrong.

I think they would have faired better if they opted to sell the channels to either of the existing providers. Frankly, R99 for 10 religious channels is a little steep but perhaps the market is larger than I realise.
What DOES seem like overkill is the R1200 price tag for installation of a decoder and dish that ONLY has these niche channels.

What a load of rubbish. It just looks like some religious propaganda.

Well this is going to appeal to a lot of people I know for a fact, I have had to mingle with very conservative people who will think this system is gold!

I smell a fail, I'll be suprized if they even a launch & have good consumer base sales.
10 channels for R99, i'm sure they'll carry SABC & e-TV so thats actually 6.
The price of the decoder + installation seems like overkill, what is it a HD-pvr?

But E-Tv has sex ads after 10, plays same-sex movies and softporn flicks...
The SABC is too biased, plays to much Muslim content and would be against Christianity...
So do you reckon they`ll still carry the FTA channels of SA? naaaaah ;)

But they in turn could have a dedicated porn channel, doesn't "Walk on Water" have to do with water sports:p

Just remember that just because they are operating under the guise of being Christian-orientated, it doesn't mean that this is necessarily the truth.
The poll question directly goes against Christian principles. God does not "yearn" for us to earn money in any shape or form, as it means less than nothing in the eternity that awaits us. What we do with what we have earned through honest hard work is the important thing.
