I will, in the next 10 months, prep myself to go overseas.
Anyone wishing to donate to my cause would be welcome. In the process, I'm selling off my stuff. If anyone would be interested to buy some cheap **** you can either post your "need" for something on here or PM me.

I don't have a porn collection anymore. 100gig hard drive isn't big enough so I had to delete it.
bb_matt, unfortunately I use my laptop for work purposes. I'll definately sell it as well when I quit my job. But only after I stopped working (which re: original post would be around 10 months)
Same goes or my TV, I'll only sell that when my 10 months comes along and I make a final decision.
Posts about the "Struggle" would be welcome. Unfortunately you already have a british passport (?correct) so it is assumed you don't have to jump through the normal working holiday hoops.

It does mean I've got to jump through other hoops tho - National Insurance, Pension, Tax - all that kinda cr@p. All it means for you is to fork over some more dosh for a Visa - that's about it.
The only advantage for me is that I don't have any set time limit for working there and I can stroll into the UK with one rand in my pocket if I want.
Regarding set time limits, I've known plenty people who get extensions to stay for years, eventually getting permanent rez.
I should be getting some more info next week, depending on how much my brother quizzes my brother/sister-in law, both staying in Wimbeldon (Wimblefontein) and working in London.

UtterNutter, it is final unless my finances prove otherwise. If I manage to save up enough in the next 10 months (which I should be able to do if nothing drastic happens) it will be final final.

I suppose you want enough to have a big fat europe party before seeking work ?
I'll be lucky to have 3000squid when I arrive. I'm trying to push that higher, by doing really ****ty data conversion jobs (danger pay), but I consider 3000 a good base to work from.
3000, with shared accomodation and all expenses, can last you 3 months.
My boet says he's got a lot of info to bring back regarding prices, but a clearer picture is forming in my head now.
100squid a week for a reasonable shared place - your own room, shared kitchen and ablutions. That, as you well know, is an extremely interesting risk. It's like living in a commune - for you, noone, it should be easy enough. I'll adapt ok too - although I've had my own pad for 5 years, before that I lived in communes for 15 years.
It all depends on whether you get on with the people your sharing with !
... can you imagine the washing up scenarios - or the dirty bathroom issues - yah.well.no.fine.

They should actually have a dedicated 'For sale' section.
I'm sure you guys go through tons of PC bits and pieces, and want to sell them off at some stage. Likewise, there are people on here that are looking for spcific bits and pieces from old PCs (I was looking a P3 chip a few months back).
I mean - I sold my old DTSV decoder on this site for research!

I'll be lucky to have 3000squid when I arrive...I had 1000squidlings burning a hole in my pocket when I arrived in the UK - yes that was all the ZAR savings I had exchanged for GBP...somehow I managed without begging on the streets, but £3000 is probably just enough for a month possibly 2 months...
