Hi there. Has anyone used this 3G phone http://www.samsung.com/za/products/mobilephone/handset/sgh_z130.asp ?

I would like to buy a 3G phone so I can hook it up to my desktop or laptop to surf the net.

Can anyone share their experiences with this phone? Perhaps Brett from MTN Handsets could offer his opinion?

Just think: If you leave that "thing" lying around by mistake, no one will ever steal it.
At night you do run the risk of an aircraft trying to land on it by mistake though :)

lol at dbnnet...
Nizwe, why not rather get a 6680? Way better 3G phone at half the size.
Also in a comparable price bracket...

Well with MTN, the Samsung is free on My Call 100. However, MTN wants an extra grand for the 6680.

Besides, I have a friend with the 6680 and its giving him problems.

Thanks for the welcome, lewstherin :)

Yes. Z500 is a better choice.

Suggest you read this:
Strategy Analytics’ Advanced Buyer Panel recently awarded the Nokia 6680
as the “best-in-class 3G phone on Western Europe” stated Neil Mawston,
associate director for wireless device strategies at Strategy Analytics.http://mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=604

Poor guy - so far no-one has been able to offer their experience of this phone. All the comments I bet are related to those that haven't ever used it... Unfortunately I can't offer any assistance either - maybe someone has actually used this and can offer a decent post.! LOL!

Hehe. I must admit, if I could get the 6680 free on a reasonably priced contract, I would prefer it to the Samsung.

And in the meanwhile the regulator is thinking of banning handset subsidies? Hope you get what you want before then...

It would be great to get the Samsung Z500, but unfortunately MTN does not seem to be providing this phone, maybe MTNHandsets can enlighten us on the reason why they(MTN) are not able to offer this phone ?

Or maybe I have it wrong, but this is after chatting to a guy at MTN, at a conference last week.

According to a reliable source, Z500 stocks will be distributed over the MTN channels by the 2nd week of October.
I've seen the working sample of Z500 and it's basically 3G enabled folder type D500(in terms of the spec).

We certainly are brining this product in, hopefully a little sooner than the 2nd week of October, but it will definitely be available by then.
