Seen 4 of them in the Parklands/Sunningdale/West Beach area, all were on Eskom property.

Well the chances are that the folks in Melkbos are going to glow in the dark long before they manage to get out if the sirens go off.

They not sirens as they would have been up years ago if they were. Saw another at the bottom of Parklands as well. Havent seen any in Table View yet. They also all have solar power panels attached.

They are sirens which are activated and administered remotely hence the midband antennas. They are regulations since eskom is installing a new pebble bed reactor at Koeberg

I know a fellow who worked at Koeberg and he rates its literally impossible for things to go wrong there.. he says there are tons of precautionary measures and the sirens are simply something that needs to be done due to rules and regulations etc.

If Koeberg *did* go up though it would be quite a show.. for anyone more than 10KM away :)

First one of that type in the world apparently ... good thing then that I don't live close by :).
