OK lately I've had a got a problem where if I try and reply to certain threads, My browser freezes. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to close it. I have now done this to one thread specifically 3 times and each time I type my reply It freezes. I can however reply to other threads and its ok and even make new threads (as can be seen here)
Anyone know whats up?
EDIT Oh and move this where ever it needs to go I couldnt think where else ot put it Off topic

1. Don't use Windows 98 or lower , use 2000, XP or 2003 or higher
2. Don't Internet Explorer or all other crap, user Mozilla Firefox
3. Don't Norton's Anti-Virus, discovered last night that it's been the cause of my machine behaving strangely, so I uninstalled it.
4. If you are using Mozilla Firefox, perhaps you got an old version (try updating) or some dodgy plug-in.
Hope one of these works !

LOL well I have not clue, its happened a few times to me, but never thought much of it. Usually i'm to lazy to retype my message so ignore it. Though today I did, and it did it again, tried to reply once more and the same thing. Surfed to all the forums I post on and it only happens on MYADSL. and to that specific thread.. soon as somebody else posts I can usually post agagin
Oh and Space :)
1) I was using 98 as its at work. Its safer than any other MS product and still the most stable to date. Vbulletin works perfect on 98
2) Only use IE.. sorry.. Cant stand Mozilla's windows and Having my MSCE+I might be another reason
3) Dont need virus detectors with 98 :) though Norton is on the server.. but doesn't affect me
4) Not applicable

Though I had it happen to me today on another forum.. Also Vbulletin though, Gonna head over to their forums and check their support section

Dude, just when you reply, dont have quotes in your message, mine has freezed when replying to a pm, and there was a quote in it,i tried 3times unsuccessfully,so i removed the quote and replied and it went through.
Wierd.
I have no spyware on this pc or my one at home.
Cheers

Now that you mention it, it has happened when there are quotes in it. Also when the message gets long?

Yeah i typed like a 2page reply and then the thing hangs, so i think its a once off thing..so i close explorer and start again, when im finished to be safe i copy the text, then i send,it hangs again,no worries,il just paste...not on my clipboard...sigh.
So then i try it on a diff pc,same story.
So i retype the msg (alot shorter now cos im irritated) and remove the quotes and it works.
Ciao

LOL exact same thing here.. hit CTRL+C, hit submit.. Crash.. DAMN.
Retry, hit paste.. gone :(
I've now started pasting it first into a word doc, saving it and then hitting submit. If it fails I email it home if I really want to reply and try from there

AAAAHHHH I'm not going mad and nobody else is either :)
On the VB forums there are quite a few posts about this problem and it seems to be with V3.0.8. Most seem to be around either:
long colourful signatures,
HTML in sigs (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103423&page=2)
or using quotes as stated above.
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154730&highlight=crash
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114649&highlight=crash
On guy traced it to a simular problem in the bug tracker:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151083&highlight=crash
And the way to fix it is (or so stated by one person) :
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs.php?do=view&bugid=4114
which links to:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs.php?do=view&bugid=4115
edit
Can one of the mods/admins check this out. Posted all the links so that it wouldn't seem like I'm trying to hack the forums but it is a legit problem

Weird bcos I managed to post without a problem - even the quote thing was not an issue anymore... (http://img306.imageshack.us/img306/4577/icsnapshotsast200509240017028s.png)
That's a pretty big font-size you have there..
Werd
I had the same issues for the first time Yesterday, All day. I thought if you edit to much in a quoted post or with multiple quotes it hangs for some reason when submitting ??? ....But today it seems ok though.
I found out today the opening bracketing of the [quote] was lost. therefore the hangup. Copy paste problem. Do not know if it was related to yesterday. Lenth has definitely not to do with it, as long as there is 10000 characters or less Hehe

It's always been like that if you quote a message you have to enter at least one character.

I really have no clue IC.. Seems from the Vb forums not even the DEVS know exactly. Though it does seem to be a valid error with V3.0.8.
There are some fixes above I posted that seem to work for some, but again.. not for others

Have any of the mods been able to check over at VB to see if there is a fix for this? Its just happened to me again?

Was that a personal attack on Pupa? Where's that pesky bad post button . . . :p
Edit : This was meant in a joking mood
I do not know if it is a personal attack myself but you dont have to shout, i am new here "subtle" guidance will do..Luckily for You I missed this I did not see it, You would have been sorry...Hehe, but any way my time is my time Hehe....,
Edit: This refers to the errors in posting
I do not know which thread it was in or in what context. I know it became so frustrating that I now use the e-mail draft funtion as solution to edit and safe the longer posts, ""for which I have so much time for"", to prevent retyping.
I relate this problem is more of a windows issue (resources) slowing down, Sometimes on the shorter messages as soon as I want to force the page shut the error message appear or normal functions continue. If the message were longer I would have forced the page to close.....
or when the quote function is used and a formatting error exists ... lost bracket or not properly sequenced formatting, mostly due to copy paste errors.
The hangup I think is the VB error script trying to give a message for the incorrect syntax.
Edit:this is in a joking mood
You are right I do not know Vbulletin (Vbasic a bit yes) and do not know if I want to know..Why, Whats the point, If You have a problem fix it dont make it mine..When I have A LOT OF TIME one day I will look at it. First I need to fix faster broadband.
Wheeze i looked at that Vbulletin site... Forget it will leave it up to You experts..dont have the time You know.. to busy posting
Just as note I am in this exactly 3 weeks now. Quick learner..LOL
This is what I get (http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/2941/icsnapshotsast200509241822111t.png) when I experience the [quote] block problem, anyone else get the same?
Yes then I just add points or the other after the quoted block and or in the subject and it is OK. will continue. The problem I experience is when submit or reply is pushed then it highlite the selection and waits...and waits....till I kill the page. See other post in this lonely thread on possible reasons.
@pupa, as I have already posted, there was no element of personal attack, however you should please report my post as being bad if you feel otherwise.
Edited
Ic I was refering to the post in a joke ..LOL... This was not to be seen as referencing to You negatively and I do not say or think it is bad. I am amused because I missed It and I do not no where it came from. I have no issues here. merrily stumbled on this thread and answered the posts directed at me.. no intentions whatever
Dont be jumpy You give me a fright Hehe. peace please
