Hi Guys

Is it possible to port a number to 8ta? If so, how long does the process take?

Thanks

MTN, Vodacom and CellC, don't want their subscribers to port to 8.ta, so they're making it tough for 8.ta to set up any agreements with them. Telkom Direct guy told me today that it could take anywhere from a week, to a more than a month for 8.ta to allow mobile number portability. Sucks really, but that's not the only issue - I usually buy my airtime using cellphone banking, so I gotta wait for FNB to add 8.ta to their list of mobile service providers.

For prepaid porting is already possible. Some of the TDS salespeople don't know it, though. One of my colleagues ported last week - will try to find out the difficulty of the process (if I remember!) on Monday.

Airtime via internet should be available either Nov, or early Dec.

How do I port my number?

Call Customer Care on 081180 to join now
Or
Visit your Telkom Direct Shop at Menlyn Park, Fourways Mall Gateway, Canal Walk, The Bridge.

For quick and easy response, we will need the following information from you:
A CLI (Caller Line Identity) validation to ensure the number being ported belongs to you
RICA documentation (see http://www.8ta.com/rica/ for more details.)

When can the port take place?

This can be requested during the following hours:
09h00 to 17h00 on Mondays to Fridays (Sundays and public holidays excluded)
09h00 to 13h00 on Saturdays (public holidays excluded)
22h30 to 23h30 on all days except public holidays if the port request is late!!!

If your port request is received in time on a particular day and the response from your current Service Provider is accepted, you should be able to port on the same day that the request is made. Ports can also be scheduled for up to 30 days from the date of the request.

So why delay...make that change!

Porting will be made available at all stores very soon!
