well, since Debbie2 banned any discussion supporting Ajak on her thread for moderating Ajak, and explicitly asked that a new thread be started for this purpose, well, here it is.

This does not mean *I* support Ajak, it means *I* want to argue Debbie2's thread.

Debbie2 mentions the constitution when she feels like it, supporting it (free speech, but limited) yet, at other times, she wholeheartedly voices her disgust at the same constitution (signing away constititional rights when agreeing to telkoms contract). So, which is it Debbie2? Do you just agree with the bits that agree with you? Quote them when they are relevant and in your favour? You cant have it both ways sweety. Ajak makes some really weird posts....sure, they may not agree with the majority of the politically correct crowd (you), but if I am given both sides of the story then I can make a decision. You are attempting to remove one side of the story, Ajak, and flood the forum with a bunch of "do-not-argue-with-me tibbys". I dont recall Ajak blatantly calling anybody a racist, sure, his posts might upset those who are still sitting on the fence and dont wholeheartedly agree with the ANC, but you on the other hand have no trouble calling him a racist, and you havent even met the bloke. In my books, you are worse than him for being two-faced.

If you wanna get along with everybody in harmony in the new S.A then you tolerate the ajaks of this world, and you tolerate the tibbys of this world, and personally I am not interested in your opinion of who you do or dont tolerate, I am perfectly capable of making my own mind up.

Now, back on topic...re: ajak killing myadsl blah blah. He doesnt talk much broadband talk does he? :-) But, as said before, if he talks his stuff in off topic, then it *should* be ok with the mods, as agreed before on myadsl. When the guy starts running amok with shortpants and a comb in his sock on the iburst/adsl/vodacom forums then you can all get you traditional weapons out and cry "no fair".

Your rant on my supposed inconsistent feelings about the constitution does not make sense. I have never voiced my disgust at the constitution (bar the amendment allowing floor-crossing). I take issue with Telkom's contract PRECISELY because it betrays the constitution. I was DEFENDING and promoting the balues of the constitution by complaining that Telkom was not upholding them. Ok, sweety, do you understand now?

I think it is worth mentioning that for this country to arrive at this point and not go down by way of other liberized countries in the continent many compromises had to be met. This says to me that there are some aspects of the constitution that will appeal to one part of a society and not the other. The compromises made make the constitution work for the society as a whole.

I think for this reason then calling Debbie "two faced" isn't fair.

gDot, that was an error on my part...I admitted it, go read above. However, if you READ Debbie2 thread, you will realise she is using all her skills to try convince people she is correct. She couldve written the thread in a totally different way leaving people to make their own minds up, yet she insists on phrases like "ajak's destruction", trying to conjure up pictures of a bad bad man, saying "racist, eurocentric, poor-little-hard-done-by-white-man "....excuse me but these are HER opinions. Stop stating them as facts and trying to gather support. Write some bland stuff, let the forumites decide for themselves. It doesnt take a blind man to realise ajak's point of view, so stop trying to insult my intelligence by pointing it out to me in bold.

Life isnt always fair, but be tolerant to your fellow man, love 'em or hate 'em. I dont think Debbie2 likes ajak much, and she could perhaps take that somewhere else instead of trying to rally support with the troops.

That is an example of a post that says so much with so little. A link to a story that toutched you in some way without even a word spoken. We know how AJAK feels but nobody can attack him for it because it is only a media report...

Yeah - I figured that, it's just that these things get out of hand sometimes due to people getting too personal about it.

You have to try and take a step back and think "is this really a problem for everyone, or is it just me getting upset ?"

Everytime I see threads like this started, I always know how they'll turn out, no matter how well intentioned they may be.

Obviously Ajak has rubbed Debbie2 up the wrong way and I can see why.

Debbie2 is MyADSL's eternal optimist ready to fight for her rights. Ajak seems to be the pessimist and I'm unsure whether he tries to do anything to improve things.

don't worry, there's plench people fighting Telkom and in fact, Debbie2 is on the front line regarding that.

We have to get over the idea that Off Topic is an area where visitors will come as soon as they arrive here for the first time. It most definately is not - that is so obvious if you visit the main page.

It's just that being a regular visitor and member can give the perception that Off Topic is all this is about - and why ?

Because people LOVE to chat, skinner, spread rumours, gossip, share their feelings, rant and rave - it's a normal sign of a healthy forum, not a sign of impending doom.

Take a chill and view the forum from a different perspective - go take a look at the main forum page then just let Off Topic do what it does best - handle Off Topic stuff !
