View Full Version : "When racists defend racists" - article by Jon Qwelane

"Shall the day ever dawn when all the ballyhoo about the so-called "new South Africa, this rainbow nation" is finally realised and all shades of the old apartheid country be finally buried and forgotten?

I am steeling myself now for loud condemnation as a "racist" by people who, curiously, are never going to take even just a single moment to examine their own mental make-up truthfully and honestly. Just wait for it!

I wonder, judging by the lion murder trial ....."

http://www.news24.com/News24/Columnists/Jon_Qwelane/0,,2-1630-1633_1814251,00.html

Also rather interesting point of view below.

I still firmly believe the misguided notions of "reconciliation" espoused by, among others, Nelson Mandela when he left prison and archbishop Desmond Tutu, have always been the reason why some white South Africans believe they have no duty to make race relations work.

We should have had Nuremberg trials immediately after the end of apartheid, and levelled the playing fields once and for all.

As it is, we have the ridiculous situation where one Eugene de Kock is in C-Max for life for the murders he committed, while his superiors who gave the orders and for whom he murdered, are free men enjoying hefty state pensions.

Well, then Nelson Mandela, Jacob Zuma and all the people from MK would have had to be included in the trials for all the 'eliminations' they commited.

The reason for not having fair trials is because if fair trials were held, more than half of the cabinet would also be behind bars.

The war went both ways, both parties killed and planted bombs etc.

Good posts Neio and Louisp. There are always 3 sides to every story however some people only give their side. :)

And the equally ridiculous situation where someone didn't follow orders and in an act of cowardice blew up some women at Magoo's Bar now heading the Metro police in Ekurleni. At least the De Kok monster still languishes in C-Max. The McBride coward was allowed to become a arms trafficer (I wonder if that was a misinterpreted question at the job interview - Do you have any experience in traffic control?) before taking up office in his own gravy train coach.

FYI Robert McBride was granted amnesty by FW De Klerk along with Barend Strydom.

Also 80% of the people who applied for amnesty of the TRC (Robert McBride re-applied) was black.

Very interesting ain't it fellas ... so where was the rest ???.

So before hauling out good old Robert McBride as an argument you can perhaps explain the above skewed statistic to me

Well fellas ... I rest my case.

Tibby, I understand your point of the eye-for-eye justice and I understand your frustration with the members of this mostly white forum.

I have a problem with you bringing up the Nuremberg Trials. Being From Eastern Europe (Poland) I have studied that history in school and have 1st hand experiences talking with people who survived WW2 (grandparents etc.)

So please do not confuse these two events in any way. To do so would not put you in a favourable light amongst the history-aware.

And on a personal note, why do you do this to yourself, why do you bring up all the racial issues in all your posts. Just accept the viewpoint of the majority of the forum members will not agree with yours. If it does not suit you then move on or don't bring it up any more.

have you even posted anything ADSL related in the last few months?

This is not a PoliticalOutbursts.co.za this is myadsl.co.za

Please do not take my post as an act of agression against you but as an expression of concern towards the wellbeing of this forum.

And to end of with something really cheezy, and even though he was very white:
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"

Well fellas ... I rest my case.I dont get that? What am I missing? Are you stating that only 30% of the people who filed for amnesty where white, and that they are cowards and did not admit what they did wrong?

Or that because 80% of the people who filed where black that they are more to blame since more of them where involved in criminal actions,

Ie 80% of the criminals are black and 30% white.. That seems like a racist allegation to me? I never did well at Stats at school? I'm lost?

being tarred with that brush has made me seriously consider my participation

?? If you have something to say please fell free to say it. No one is saying you cannot post what you feel. I think the majority view has got nothing to do with it. If you have something to say then say it. :)

craigsa - i am not shy and have posted what i wanted to post...viz. that the majority political leaning on this forum is probably better classified as apathetic as opposed to militant conservative..i do not share your political views and do not want to be viewed by association as sharing them. simple.

Exactly. The answer is that the race card is the ony way to justify their outbursts.
