View Full Version : Telkom Exchange failure

There has been a failure at the main exchange in Cape Town CBD since yesterday and not sure what level of failure but the a lot of ADSL accounts have been off line since the start of business yesterday with no ETR announced yet.

My theory is that they attempteed to move more users to the 10Mbps service and their hardware failed, has anybody else been experiencing this? As usual their helpdesk was completely useless in dealing with questiosn posed to them

well, the longest ADSL / phone line outage I ever had was 2 weeks - :(

We have had the same problem since Friday morning and the problem continues today. Telkom has said there is a fault with their Leeusig 9 exchange. To be honest I have been finding faults with this exchange for about 3 months. Have you experienced any issues?

Table View 9 is terrribly slow as well. Since middle of October, mind you. Tried everythiing but no joy yet. It is indeed a side effect of pushing too many 10 MB clients on not enough hardware.

lol Thats nothing to complain about, the Waterford Exchange in JHB has had a block fault on it since March 2009, I logged my fault shortly after I moved to the area in August 2010 and it was linked to that fault. And it seems Telkom doesn't care enough about their clients to fix a faulty exchange or the other possibility is that they may not have someone competent enough to.
