So basicaly i have started a thread around this before while i was on windows xp and couldnt find a solution.
I have no upgraded to windows 7 and I am still having problems.

I have a telkom account that is set as the default connection in the router.
I also have a seperate afrihost account that i use for gaming for the peering problems with mweb /telkom

When i create a seperate dial up connection on my pc to connect to afrihost, all seems fine untill i start browsing or try to connect to steam.

If i ping saix.co.za -t i can monitor what is happening. So my ping is 9 to saix on the telkom account, then as soon as i enable the webafrica account it goes to 53.

Now the problem comes in that as soon as i open up a new tab in IE, or try to connect to steam etc, the host becomes unreachable for about 5 pings, then it redials and the proccess starts over again. So i seem to be losing connection. It is most frustrating as im permanently capped on the telkom account so i cannot really game etc.

Help with this would really be awesome, i mean i just spent R500 on black ops and now its pointless :(

THanks for your time

Now the problem comes in that as soon as i open up a new tab in IE<---- first off use firefox :P

second off set router on routing or something like that ,aka if plug in your router you need to dail the account, so no account is set on the router itself.

so when you switch on your pc you dail your telkom or another account then it will work fine, i do at my friends home, hes router is set up to dail accounts, so he uses hes telkom, i use mweb, and another friend using mweb , all on the same router.

Hi there hereticangel.
Maby i didnt explain very well in my first post, but i do have an account set in the router.
That is the telkom account that is for the whole family. So as soon as any1 turns there pc on, they connect to the telkom account in the router.

The problem that im having is when i dial up with my seperate afrihost connection, but i dnt want to put that into the router because then every 1 is going to eat my cap :P

your router most probably dont support pppoe over pppoe , aka using an account when there is another account active, or just not very good at it.

yes i got the point where you have telkom on the router, but best is to separate it to let dailup.

The router that im using is a NETGEAR DG834G
It does support it as my brother used to have a seperate dial up for his other account a few years ago.
He said that he had the same problem that i was having, but he some how managed to sort it out.
He isnt the most helpfull person at times so its not going to help if i ask him, thats why i came here :)

Please feel free to ask if you don't manage to split the traffic accordingly with my Traffic Splitter app. Here's a post of mine that explains most of the different/popular configurations for my application.

Read Fragtion's post on how to enable half-bridge mode: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/139776-Netgear-DG834GT-PPPoE-Relay-Half-Bridge?p=2182279&viewfull=1#post2182279

I clicked on fragtions link that he put there, and the message Usage: ping [OPTION]... host came up.
So i didnt install ur program or anything pada, and then i managed to log into steam without a problem.
So basicaly that sorted the problem out ?
If so, thank you guys so much!
If i understand correctly, each time the router is reset, all i have to do is click on that link again and it should all be sorted out right ?
Thanks alot all

Fonzy, unfortunately those settings aren't saved, so you'll have to do that each time the router is reset or when it lost its power.
I'm glad to hear that those settings worked!

You don't have to use my application, if overriding the Telkom account with the Afrihost account is all you want.
With my application, you can route (or as some people call it: split) the traffic such that only the Mweb traffic goes through the Afrihost account and all the other local & international traffic still goes through the Telkom account.
This way you won't deplete your Afrihost account so fast :)
