Be warned:
If you download it, Telkom considers it as abusive behaviour :-)
ADSL was not designed for such heavy usage (or something like that if my memory serves me right back to the ICASA hearing)

Grrr. I just grabbed the latest beta 2 nights ago!
Typically, SAIX don't have it, and IS is full!

IMO it rocks - esp nice is the saving as pdf. One thing that pissed me off was SAIX not actually having it on the mirror.
ftp://ftp.saix.net/pub2/OpenOffice.org/stable/2.0.0/ - is still empty!

I only ask cos I did a clean windoze install over the weekend and havent had the time to reload MS Office - I like the looks of OpenOffice so much that I might forgo installing MS altogether.

I am using a pc that has open office and Ms Office... although MS office is my default program...as a soon as i open an app in Open office... it automatically takes over and opens everydocument using Open office this can be annoying as it keeps telling me about data loss and formating and Stuff. If you are only using Open office then its fine... well that was before version 2. if you plan on using Ms Office.. make sure you never make open office your default program. I will give open office 2 a test drive tonite and i will see from there...

Is this due to the SAIX-IS peering problems?
Could be. Also IS sometimes throttles the FTP connections for non IS clients so it may have been that. I pulled both the windows and linux versions from IS on Sentech in about 45min.

If you are only using Open office then its fine... well that was before version 2. if you plan on using Ms Office.. make sure you never make open office your default program. I will give open office 2 a test drive tonite and i will see from there...i think this is because one is given the choice during setup to automatically open .doc, .xls and .ppt files with openoffice. at least it does if you use the "custom" install option - not sure if it prompts you if you choose the "typical" option
so just make sure you uncheck the boxes when it asks you this during setup, and you should be fine. i have both ms offiice and openoffice on my pc, with ms office as the default application, and don't have any problems with it.
hope that helps...
