So my fiance wants to get Telkom Simple installed, and I phone in first to order on her behalf. After listening to the Telkom Simple advert on the line, the consultant on the other end says she needs to phone in person.
So she phones, also listens to the add while holding on the line, only to be told the Simple special is not running at the moment and is only available again from 15 January??
So which is it, is Telkom Simple available or not?

Why would u want Telkom simple? There are cheaper ways to get ADSL and you can get free minutes on closer 2.

Thought it would be quick and painless to just get simple. Just need it for a year, and she doesn't use that much data. Telkom is proving quite the opposite.
Now they claim without a 24 month contract the dsl installation of ~R670 is not free. Think I'll go the buying each bit seperate route then.
Man this company is bad

I signed up for Simple ( guess I was rather at the time :-) ) in October, and was told it would take 14 - 28 days to install.
Nothing happened by November so I went into a Telkom shop and asked a salesman what this new Simple deal was ( and I told him where I live ). He told me it could be up and running in 14 to 28 days if I sign up.
When I told him that I was told that in October when I signed up, he looked rather sheepish and said that the problem was that there were not enough "cards" at my exchange, and they were working on it, and I could expect my service after the 16th Jan, and then told me that special offer ( Simple) was only starting in January anyway !!!!!
The Telkom Simple page states that the installation and Internet setup are free, but when the installer actually arrived Thursday, he told me that I would have to pay for the telephone socket if I wanted it in the lounge ( right next to where the Telkom line comes in ) as it is an "extra point" ( there is a line installed already with a socket in the bedroom !"
I pointed out that the installation is free, and if I didn't have an existing line, he would have had to run cables from the street and all over the house, so surely Telkom is saving a fortune and could include the socket.
He begrudgingly installed the socket where I wanted it, but refused to supply any filters, or phone leads, I have to go and buy them.
I already had a Telkom router from my previous house , and despite The Simpler page stating "free landline and Internet installation" he was just not interested in plugging it in or setting it up, or giving me my login details for the new line.
He said I would have to call Telkom for those ( he knew I did not have a phone yet ) He did however give me my new phone number, and left.
So I spent over an expensive hour on my cellphone until I got through to Telkom who SMSd me the login number and password.
Thank heavens I knew how to get into my routers setup system as I did it a couple of years back, but new customers might still be pullng their hair out.
I see why they call it simple now, simply no service !
afaik its still available
