Ok - sorry if I am a bit blunt but I personally think we need to impliment these sort of things to increase support and respectability - not that it is bad as it is :)
MyADSL Website changes:
If someone who is completely ignorant goes to www.mybroadband.co.za they are not going to see what the point of MyADSL is. The about page does not specify what we want, and what is wrong – I think the main page should show that we are fighting for something, something very important – and within 5 minutes someone should be able to find out what that is.
There should also be a page dedicated to reports – ic’s page (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/announcement.php?f=88#links_to_downloadable_stuff) he has is cool – but I think that there should be a separate page outside of the forum for things such as the Broadband Ratings Report – then from that link to ic’s page with all the media files and so on.
MyADSL Demands:
I seriously think there needs to be MyADSL ‘policies’ – showing what we deem acceptable, for example I think we should have the following demands on ADSL:
Pricing:
• Telkom must allow ISPs to offer a complete ADSL package as in the UK and other countries – users should not have to pay separate line rental and ISP cost – ie Telkom should be cut out of the loop.
• Prices must be lowered to international standards – current aim should be R300pm all-inclusive 512kbps line
Service:
• Users should be guaranteed a satisfactory level of service – ie it should not be ‘best effort’
• There should be no shaping at all – you are paying for the internet and so should get the full internet
MyADSL ‘ratings’
Ok – we get the reports – but what about looking at a providers product, compare that with the Demands and giving them a rating in stars - then give them a image to put on there website – but don’t give them 5 unless it conforms with the demands. Oh yes – make them link to MyADSL :p
