I'm not talking about the R200 + brands.

Jameson does it for me. Nice and smooth.

Edit: before being accused of being a alkie
(everyday drinking, in other words drinking that's not on special occasions.)

Jameson is an Irish whiskey... nice.
For everyday drinking, Famous Grouse is pretty nice

Erm, 8AM in the morning is a bit too early for me.

From 15H00 is fine.

AS we speak, I have on my desk a half bottle of 12 year old chivas and a "as yet unopened" bottle of James Buchanan "black and white". Normally way out of my price range but an acqaintance is off the booze, going in for heart surgery and knowing I like whisky, made a donation to my cause!!! (grin) Now the Chivas is like silk on ones tongue( do I hear someone say like angels p....g? ) The black and white I do not know.. My most memorable whisky though was drinking a 12 year old jura single malt on the island of Jura itself in a little Island pub!!

Bourbon's don't count. Read thread owner's thread rules.lol What rules? You'd have to exclude the likes of Jameson if you're only allowed to include whisky (as Jameson is Irish and thus a whiskey) and thats the preferred tipple of the thread starter. Jim Beam is labeled as Straight Bourbon Whiskey and there is Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey.

I stand corrected. Completely and utterly. Apologies to jackdaniels and whomever else I offended.

Finally someone with taste.

Lagavulin 18yo or Laphroaig 16yo. Nothing else will do.

best sipping whisky: Isle of Jura
Best potting whisky: Johnny Red

theREV, I find Laphroaig to be a bit on the heavy side in terms of peatyness, but the Lagavulin will do.

PS: only Scotch qualifies to be spelt "whisky", everything else is "whiskey"...
