There should be the first WiMAX live networks in major centers as early as May/June. Prices will start off similar to ADSL and then come down quickly.

Any idea if they'll be excluding PE as a major center as is usually the case?

It should begin to be live by June.

Will I be able to get WiMAX in a small town like Prince Albert? And if yes, when?

Thanks

I find this amusing. WiMax is not saving the planet - youll be lucky to see any major benefit over any of the existing OFDM technologies - its amazing how the WiMax hype has made Joe Public believe that the technology will be able to connect all irrespective of where.

Crazy stuff.

Hmmm...

I'm just looking for something that I can use for gaming really. I got 3G, but no 3G coverage, so I'm paying R700 p/m for GPRS.....whatta waste!!

I was hoping that WiMAX would suite my needs better. Something wireless with a low latency.

Any suggestions from your side, Chaz???

Well you can buy Pre-Wimax equipment +/- R 10,000 a AP @ 54mbits, etc
The ISO standerd has been established, so it is just a matter of time before it gets rolled out.

Too late.....I've chosen to go with ISDN. :)

Err... ISDN Adapter = R 300, WiMax client side AP +/- R 6000, big diff :P

'Real' Pre WiMax equipment will not do 54Mbits ....

Anything 54Mbits is not WiMax anything -- but rather an 802.11 a/b/g subset equipment ...
