I just slipped a brand new 8ta sim (RICA'd) into my iPhone 3GS and all I get is "No Service". Just prior to this I put another 8ta sim in my son's phone and it worked without issue.

Is there some kind of secret handshake or knock I need to know for the iPhone?

I thought I had already explained what happened here, but another of my posts has mysteriously disappeared. That is very, very strange...

I had 2 8ta sims RICA'd at the same time at Edgars, but only the first one went through. The second one printed a RICA slip, but if you look closely at the status field on that slip it says "possible duplication - please try again in 10 minutes". Rather silly. So now I have to get it done again.

An update: went and got anothe 8ta sim card this morning, RICA'd it and put it in the iPhone 3GS. NO SERVICE is all I get after the network search gives up. I stuck the sim into a cheap Nokia phone and it runs fine - sent me the number and free email account details. So I stuck my son's working 8ta sim into the iPhone and I got the same problem again. NO SERVICE.

If I put my wife's MTN sim into the same iPhone it works without a problem.

Can anyone explain why 8ta is not working on an iPhone?

I know this suggestion IS WAY OUT THERE, but lets give it a shot.

Phone 8ta support?

I just did that and would you believe, while I was on the phone to them the iPhone mysteriously picked up the 8ta sim. Looks like very good reception in my area.

8ta takes long to be registered on the network....leave the sim in for a few minutes then check

It took almost an hour for this to happen. I wonder if the help centre didn't just push a button somewhere while I was on the phone to them? :-)
