And how many deaths daily through driving or eating McDonalds?
Yet we don't stop driving, nor do we stop eating crap.
Each worthy of a Darwin award. Keeps the population numbers down too.

The chances of being murdered in your own home tonight are higher than dying from smoking today.
Amazing how susceptible humans are to peer pressure. The thought of deliberately inhaling smoke and carcinogens into your lungs on the face of it is ludicrous.

Actually that is a lie.
50 odd murders a day 125 smoking deaths so you actually have more double the chance of dying from cigi's.

That and you know if you're a smoker or not so the population is much smaller (only 23% of the population of South Africa).
Then again if you're not a smoker your chances of dying from cigis is exceptionally low.
It all depends on your perspective. :p

because people can do whatever stupid carp they want to themselves?
I mean there is no law against drinking drain cleaner either. If you want to drink it then go for it. You're an idiot, but go for it.

I'm just wondering why Smoking isn't banned after all these deaths a day yet Weed and other drugs are banned?
I'm not saying smoking should be banned I just think 125 deaths a day is quite a lot for something that is legal.

I wonder why sex isn't banned when 7-10000 people die daily in africa from aids.
Also i wonder about these stats because anyone who gets cancer and smokes is considered a smoking death. Obviously certain cancers like lung are caused by smoking but many many get cancer and have never touched a cigi. If i get cancer the fault will be cigi's and nothing else like my diet or family history just smoking.
I think it is somewhat warped in that way.

I would give it a guess that the taxes earned off cigarettes are huge.
B.A.T pay millions of rands in taxes to the government not to mention the millions donated to N.G.O`S for rural upgrades and development.
