View Full Version : Online Payment Gateway Suggestions?

Hi guys,

I need a payment gateway solution for my website. I have a non-profit initiative running for school kids, and need to enable an online credit card/debit card payment for possible sponsors. But I’m at a dead end: my web-developer highly recommends MyGate as a portal.

I need a cost effective, but secure solution for a very small number of payments every month (if any at that: just depends on generosity of companies). Can you guys please recommend a payment gateway that accepts all major credit cards- maybe even debit cards too?

PS - Otherwise if the numbers are too low, perhaps a proper payment gateway will be too expensive. How about linking up a PayPal account and just accepting payments that way? Then you're not tied to a monthly cost, but you will have to pay their fees, of course.

I found Payfast to suit my needs the best. I think they have an option for charity organizations that collect money online also with better rates. I use it on my website (http://www.aroundcapetown.co.za) and it works great.

Thank you, just registered with Payfast now. Called them a liitle while ago and they were pretty helpful and friendly.

I don't have a merchant account (business banking account) so this gateway suited me better than the others (MyGate still to return my call...!)

So far seems great that there is no monthly subscription costs, now my web-developer must just try linking to my website...

Payfast works fine as long as you don't need to write your own custom plugin. It works fine if you are using OsCommerce, etc.
VCS is very nice to use.
NetCash is preferable to Payfast.
