View Full Version : DStv and TopTV decoder prices continue to decline
DStv and TopTV decoder prices lower than ever (http://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadcasting/19916-DStv-and-TopTV-decoder-prices-lower-than-ever.html)
DStv and TopTV’s satellite decoder and installation bundles and DStv HD PVR prices continue to decline
Of course the pricing for the dishes will drop, MC rip you off in their incredibly expensive monthly premiums. Makes sense for the dishes to be so cheap to get more subscribers onboard.

Sure, but after the cost of my 4Mb line and uncapped DSL, it would still be cheaper to have DSTV, not that I have either.

I can't fathom the reason why they would be the only organisation in SA that have increased the price of their monthly subscription

They can give the installation and decoders away for free, that is not where the "catch" is - it's that R600+ per month that one has to fork out for watching TV in SA.

Yeah, drop entry prices, like the decoder and dish pricing, yet raise the monthly premiums. Way to go Multichoice!

They could give them away for free and I wouldn't subscribe to DSTV.

And then it's almost R700pm subscription... They should give away the decoders.

Who remembers when NoChoice's RRP for a bulky single view non-PVR decoder was about R1000?
NoChoice knows how to sucker South Africans into buying the **** it shovels.

Any coincidence that Multichoice & MTN are essentially the same company? Even MWEB too...
Does anybody have an idea when Multichoice are gonna launch new digital terrestrial tv and how much those decoders and bouquets will cost?

Because high prices are unsustainable when there's competition.

I'm no longer a customer of any of the above but have been of all of the above in the past, the lesser of the evils there would be MWEB IMHO.

Thanks Cell C!
Remind me, how did Cell C bring down PayTv pricing again?

lol DStv is an EMPIRE here in Africa. They make the rules, it's really that simple...until they allow another Cable network come in to compete, they will continue to dominate, just like Telkom.

That was the case >10 years ago, but MTN is not part of the "M" stable any more.
Only thing in common now is the unsightly margins they get away with.

When they launched we were told 2011 first quarter - Top TV is also crap, I am running both Monochoice and Low TV in my house and believe me these are from the same womb. Old boring content on both all day and nothing will improve as ya’ll continue to pay regardless of these repeats. The only difference is that the other twin is not a rapist.
Looks like MC took notice of the new guy on the block. Would seem like somewhere we are going to benefit??

Multichoice is still trying to rip people like a Venus Fly Trap trying catch a fly! Still stinking etc and with its high subs and repeats!

16.5% discount on multichoice.
Pay for a year in advance and get one month free =16.5%
This is a very good discount. I then disconnect for a few months when I get tired of all the repeats, and switch to TopTV (who don't give the same discounts (yet).

I guess you didn't get the ISP reference when I mentioned "unsustainable", initially started by WebAfrica in response to MWEB's uncapped offering, and more recently repeated/implied by Red&Yellow in response to CellC's promotional data offerings.
My apologies for being a little cryptic. I guess I had a more regular reader of the forums in mind when I posted.

No apology necessary I know all about WA no-can-do uncapped drama and understood your post which I still think was out of place in this thread about PayTv, please forget I mentioned it and who knows maybe Cell C will see red and jump on the PayTv bandless wagon.
multipoop's decoder prices might have dropped but their crappy service prices have gone up. so nothings changed
