Bit shiny to see what's going on. What device is that screw used in?

you get those with cellphone repair screwdrivers..

I have a set, includes all the others also

the one you need would look something like this |_:-:_|

I often need one or more from the set when working inside printers.

I took a normal flat screwdriver and used my dremel with a 1mm grinding disk to cut the middle out like that.

Works a charm :)

yeah, that's it.
i'm too lazy to sit around for hours filing a regular screwdriver to the right tolerances (the head is recessed into plastic so it's got to be precise)
where do i get one of those screwdriver kits?

Google Security Bits (http://www.google.co.za/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=security+bits), there are a lot available (example (http://www.amazon.com/33-pc-Security-Bit-Set/dp/B0009U6AB4)).

If you look around Builder Warehouse and the like, I've seen some of these bit sets available.

The one the OP posted is called a Spanner Head (http://www.google.co.za/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Spanner+head), (wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw#Spanner)).

Murray,

How far are you from the Hillfox fleamarket?

Just called a friend. He said he saw those screwdrivers there this last weekend.

it's more about the other heads as well.
like venomous says, once you open the thing up with the spanner head, you don't know what other loverly head designs await...
these things are designed to not be fixed.
but fix it i will.

it's more about the other heads as well. i've been unable to open torx and security torx heads before.

Yip, normally included in those sets are the screwdrivers that have more points than the phillips/star screwdrivers as well. Whether you buy a cheapy R40/50 set or a R100+ set it's still a good investment.

No need, I have a set of those (But if I really wanted to I'd rather use one of the cnc machines or even the wirecutter at work, possibly 5 minutes per size).

I bought one of these 100 piece kits (http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-100-Piece-Security-Bits-Storage/dp/B000O5XDOG/ref=pd_cp_hi_2) a while back,it has paid itself back many times over.

One thing to be careful with bit sets, is sometimes the screw is recessed in plastic, and the bit is too thick to fit in. (pre-emptive `that's what she said`).

My torx kit never came with a spanner head (and my electric screwdriver came with 400 heads, not one spanner head either) so either buy another kit or just make one.

You can also try cell phone repair shops, I bought a set several years ago from a cell shop....

I also need a bit of help, where can I get a good dremel set, preferably online, somewhere that accepts paypal as I have some $$ in my paypal account that I need to spend..

You can also try RS-Components... I've used them before for some wire connectors and stuff...
