What are your thoughts if one needed to have an uncapped(ok maybe 30gigs), unshaped account ?
What would the cost be from Telkom and which company do you advise for the ADSL ?
Once you have reached the cap, would you still have intl. access ?

Thanks

IS/IS resellers is the only company providing uncapped as far as I know, and it's a carp service. Wrather get the All You Can Eat 30GB offering. The IS one is okay except for really bad latency to overseas, and useless international throughput during rainstorms cos they use sattelite for international.

We use the IS one at work and I am sometimes forced to log in with my AYCE account to get a VPN connection working to Germany. But other times it works fine.

AYCE is good. SAOL IPC not too bad if you can still get it (slow at times). All uncapped presently IS with latency problems. SAOL will have SAIX uncapped from March on IPC but no pricing available yet.

The best ADSL throughtput in SA at the moment is definately a SAIX provided connection.
Craig .. if you are going to actually chew 30GB then i'd say that AYCE is a good account. I use their 10GB one [which they don't sell anymore], and have absolutely no complaints.
But - ask any ISP, they're all listed at www.hellkom.co.za, and just make sure that their back-bone is SAIX and not IS.

P.S. IS say that they will have upgraded their sattelite link soon [1 or 2 months], and their capacity through rosebank is also in the process of being upgraded [1 or 2 months], and that should solve their current problems, but , until they actually have solved their problems, i would not touch them.

We're dropping IS from our company as a whole because they have failed us once again. We are now unfortunayely becoming teklom whores :(, well - as soon as the contracts finish or our lawyers have won.
