ISP rating

Would be great if Myadsl could have a ISP rating based sytem like they have on www.dslreports.com..

Users can rate ISP's according to service etc and a rating can be calculated based on this.

I second that motion. There's ISPs that care and then there's ISPs that don't. You can't tell the difference from looking at their marketing.

I prefer the existing system where we see complaints / suggestions / compliments, followed by a ISP's reply (or lack of one). Makes it much more "real".

Problem is it does not give an overall view... and users are much more likely to write compliants than compliments

True about the complaints vs compliments ratio - however, responses by certain individuals onthese forums are illuminating - and often those responses lead to satisfaction. Says a lot about the ISP.
I am not against a ranking list, just think that that is easily skewed and not as transparent.

Great idea. There are enough members here to cover pretty much all the ISPs. To prevent abuse only members with a certain number of posts should be allowed to put up a review/rating (and we should see who rated who). I'd suggest that various aspects of the ISP should be rated out of 5 stars, eg. value, support, speed, setup, email, extras, etc + space for optional comments + the date the user started using the ISP.

We should also be able to add updates if the service levels change...

Don't think speed etc should be rated by users.. the broadband report ratings could be used to feed this part of the rating. (As we only have sentech SAIX I-Burst IS and UUNET as connectivity providers)

ANother point think for the next broadband report IS and UUNET ADSL should be rated seperatly.

I like the idea of the number of posts requirement to weed out the jokers from the rest. ALso think for negative ratings the user should substantiate the rating ie. give a reason.

Great idea telkomsuig. I'm definitely all for it. Obviously only registered members should be able to vote. Nice way to validate those ISPs who are indeed customer centric.
