Hello forum,

Today I had a bought a Netgear DGN2200M (http://www.netgear.com/home/products/mobile-broadband/dsl-3g-mobile-broadband/DGN2200M.aspx) to be used with my 8.ta Huwei 367 modem.

On the website, it noted compatability with the above 3g modem (http://www.netgear.com/3gsupport/dgn2200m/apac/soutafrica.aspx) but when I tried it at home - it failed to recognise the 3g modem, even after firmware update. The shop was very kind to refund me - they were the ones who had given me the weblink proving that it should work.

So now I am hunting for a wireless router than will work with my 8ta e367. I have read about the TP-link routers being sold by dbg.co.za - but there seem to be an increasing mountain of complaints there regarding unpredictable freezing and crashing of these devices.

Any advice would be very appreciated!

Also - I've just read that perhaps flashing my 8ta e367 with mtn's firmware (from their site) would make the e367 work on the netgear MBRN3000. Who has successfully done this? Has anybody successfully done this with the netgear DGN2200M?

:)

Do a search for this and you'll find a thread from last week where I think I gave pretty comprehensive replies. It was for an MTN E367 though, but would apply in this case too.

Feel free to PM me too once you read it.

Why not look on TP Link's website about the modems their 3G routers support. I have a MR3220 and it hasn't let me down once in the 6 months I have been using it (with a Huawei E1820)

8ta E367 works perfectly with my TP-Link MR3420 (110418 firmware). No flashing of E367 required.

Same with TP-Link MR3220 - no problems with the 8ta E367.

I have the MBRN3000 and it works with 8ta's E367 after flashing it with MTN firmware. My Neotel EC168 works on it as well.

I have R250 Tenda WiFi router (including shipping) that works like a charm, straight out the box... It's compact and lightweight :-)

Mmmm...maybe I should try one of these Tenda routers for my CCTV monitoring (DDNS, mostly inbound, unrestricted APN), considering the constant lock up "trouble" my TP-LINK MR3220's and MR3420's are currently giving me

Well if it doesn't work you haven't spent a bundle ;)

Considering what I have already spent on 3xMR3420's and 2xMR3220's.........:erm:

What does a person have to do to get a stable low cost 3G router??????

Seriously hoping for a firmware fix soon!

What about adding capacitors to the router power lines? Having so many useless routers, you can try to rule out this possible cause.

The E367 works with the Netgear DGN2200M after a firmware update (for the 3G modem).

I'm sure this is online either on the Huawei or Netgear websites, unfortunately my direct link from Duxbury has expired.

Has anyone tested the E367 (8ta) with a RouterBoard 493G?
The 493G has a USB port for 3G USB modems, and it is compatible with the E367, and it is specced to work with all the other networks, but I need to know if it works with 8ta before I fork out 2 grand for a router.
I like the router for all its other features (9x Gb LAN, 3x miniPCI for wireless cards etc).

Anybody know yes or no for a fact?

Thanx in advance.

The E367 is on MikroTik's Supported Hardware (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware) page. I don't think there's anything in the router that could make it work on one network and not on another.

Thanx ginggs.

I thought the same, because all the other networks have been tested fine, so I think I'm just gonna buy it and see what happens.
I'll be happy to have the 493 on my network anyway, takes me up from 100M to 1G and 802.3g to n, always nice (the whole network is now on a Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato firmware...)

I'll post results if and when I get it running.

Wouldn't an RB751 + 8 port gigabit switch be a cheaper option?

I'll post results if and when I get it running.
Please do.

Yes, an RB751 + switch would be cheaper, but it wouldn't be NICER...
This is what I want, but not locally available - rackmount 493G (http://www.balticnetworks.com/routerboard-493g-with-rackmount-case-and-power-supply.html)

I use my 8ta e367 with a dovado umr. Works fantastic. I did have to upgrade my firmware to the latest version.

I've seen the Dovado 4GR, looks good, but basically the same price as a 493G with case and power supply...

Speaking of other routers, I also have a Huawei E960, but the Etisalat version (Egyptian ISP).
Anyone know where I can find a firmware version that will make it work here, esp. with 8ta?
I've tried many things, but no luck.
I'd like to use it until I get the 493G.
