I've been going through some of my music, getting stuff organized, and I have to say, for me the best rock album ever is Black Sabbath - Paranoid. I mean, you listen to War Pigs, and you can't help but whip out your air guitar and jam along!
So...which one gives you goosebumps?
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

I would find it almost impossible to choose a greatest rock album... there's too many good ones!!!
Paranoid is up there with my Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Dire Straits, Queen, AC/DC, Nirvana, Guns 'n' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam, RHCP, The Who, Cream, etc...
How do you choose? If based on what I listen to most often (and not a compilation/greatest hits album) then it's Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon.
I went on the 'goosebumps' factor

Brothers in Arms is right up there. (My wife's favourite!)
Lately I've been listening to The Final Cut quite a bit... strong lyrics.

Probably not the greatest rock album but my favourite: Willy and the Poor Boys by Creedence Clearwater Revival (Cosmo's Factory is definitely a runner up). And of course, if you were to consider Exile on Main Street a rock album (which some people do), then that would be the best by a long shot; from start to finish, an absolute masterpiece.

Yes, it's going to be a tough choice between GnR - Appetite for Destruction, and Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms.
Both Slash and Mark Knopfler are genius!
Other contenders are Rush, ACDC, Queen, Deep Purple, CCR, and of course Iron Maiden but their greatest tracks were scattered amongst their albums and career. Thus it would be almost criminal to choose just one of their albums.
P.S. Never really liked Glam Metal, but KISS and Twisted Sister always put me in good mood... however lame they may be.

Too many to mention... there are a few great ones. I remember going to 2 of Black Sabbath's shows many years ago at the Sun City Superbowl. Had hearing problems for a week after. The sound was still buzzing in my ears.

While it did annoy a lot of the older fans, I think Songs of Faith and Devotion (1993) by Depeche Mode is a pretty good rock album - considering it was their first attempt to be more "rock".
Definitely agree with Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms, although pretty much all their stuff is excellent. Suppose the same can be said for Def Leppard, but if I had to choose one I'd go with Hysteria.

NiN only became "listen-able" in the late 90's with songs like Perfect Drug. Before then they were just to me[-]n[/-]tal. Personally I think their best song ever is The Warning from Year Zero.

I was listening to them from when Pretty Hate Machine came out but when Downward Spiral hit, it sparked something new in anger.
