CA and PD used to have interesting discussions. Unfortunately lately there are certain elements that are constantly sprouting the most ridiculous, stupid and offensive rubbish and they are being insulting towards others. Nothing is really being done about this and the threads with real potential to have interesting discussions are being disrupted by the same elements over and over.
I don't want to name names, I am sure most know who these elements are they know they are. A lot of the time I even agree with the points of view of these people. It is just that the way they present themselves is extremely off putting.
Guys, MyBB's name is being dragged down by your nonsense.

you should try looking back in CA, people got away with a lot more than what you see there today. In fact, opposing such views got you banned for trolling in the past. Now it is different, you have a good chance of it getting sorted if you RBP. Doesn't always work, but a big step up from the ol' days.

You can easily see the direction of progression of an entity, person or country in they way they apply head-in-sand.

Please provide us an example of something "interesting", substantial and worthwhile to debate. It is always easier to complain than to contribute, we all want handouts, but we don't want to give back in return right?
Now I wait your post in PD or else your "complain" is invalid.

I agree there are elements that need to be removed, but that's what the RPB button is for.

The PD is much less aggressive than the CA section. I am guessing you are religious which is why you have such a skew negative view of PD?

You sound like someone with an agenda. MyBB has had that section for longer than you or I have been members and from my perspective people are a lot more civil in PD than CA.

If you drop the gauntlet then you should be man enough to pick it up, right ?
If one wants the quality to rise up then start by rising the quality, this is done by creating better threads if there is none as well as responding better. If we all kept to this and ignore those who can only drag down the quality then things will get better and better. It helps no-one if we head-in-sand or just leave because quality is lacking without any effort on your own part.

I, myself, certainly put a ****-load of effort into my PD interactions, and a while back became very involved in the effort to clean things up, and get the rules sorted out.
This is why crap like this pisses me off; People who add very little to the debate, and then call for things to get shut down because it's not what they want to see there, while I, and many other people, have expended a great deal of energy in that particular section of the forum. :mad:

In the CA section at least people can have decent discussions about certain subjects.
In the PD section you have a topic, people post different views, then this one attacks that one for believing in fairy tales. The other then tell him he's just part of the atheism religion and so it goes on and on in every thread discussing faith. Some nice threads about evolution and the likes which I think belongs in the science section anyway as opposed to the PD section.
I just read the PD section lately from time to time. No use even posting in those threads as:

I have seen enough to not be stupid. I have seen brilliant posts only to be rubbished by idiotic comments like "TL:DR" or "it's about semantics". The average poster in PD is basically making it impossible to have good, intellectual discussions :mad::sick:. I see no reason to waste my time in there.

The only thing I would generally call someone directly is a liar if they are lying. Otherwise I tend to get upset at concepts. IE, Ill say "creationists are dumb". Then a little while later a creationist will say, "but ghoti called me dumb". I very very seldom comment on a person directly unless they`re really bad news. I try my best to keep insults for the concepts I dont like. Sometimes I fail, but mostly I do not. I dont mince words, but I am careful when I speak. Hence the reason I am not banned from the section.

Unless you know the history of the poster being banned you're making assumptions completely out of context. For all you know the poster being banned just hit his/her last infraction. You're just not in a position to make the assertions that you are.

I just about disagree with everything The Rat says. However, what is unacceptable is that that person was banned for doing far less than what other regular "elements" do on a regular basis without anything being done about it.
Also, a person like Wild_Cat constantly makes good points even though I also disagree with a lot of things he says. Thing is, he is often treated with disrespect and baiting and veiled insults. Nothing is being done and when the poor person tries to hit back using the same tactics then all of a sudden he is the bad guy. Hypocrisy and people that are not interested in logical and truthful debates or discussions are common at MyBB and that makes this place a worse place to be at. It is unfortunate that a few "elements" have to spoil it for the res of us.

There are at best two pro-ANC people on the forum, siphox and Sly (ANCYL). And siphox hardly ever posts and Sly isn't that involved in there.
