Apologies if this has been mentioned before.

I had quite a frustrating day today. I would like to test out HSDPA and keep it as a bakup service should our ADSL fail.

I would like ot know how to go about using HSDPA on prepaid...

Any ideas ???

The 2 x Vodashops iI went to ( Randburg and Rivonia) were clueless and said its impossible..

You can buy a HSDPA card outright and then put a pre-paid SIM in. At this point in time you'll pay R2/Mb.

When pre-paid bundles eventually arrive (don't ask!!) you'll be able to pay the same as the contract bundles, i.e. as low as 50c/Mb.

HSDPA is like 3G it's just "3G on steroids" - so you can purchase the data card cash and use it prepaid - like you are able to do with the 3G data cards...

Yes, exactly. But believe me that money flies when you're having fun!

Ok..

So I've got Vodacom working like a dream... I'm now trying to get my MTN prepaid working on the same card and get an error 619 " The Port is disconnected".

Do I need to have data services activated ?

Anybody have a similar problem ?

You would need to activate Data Services on the MTN Prepaid Sim.

The Novatel U630 is not network locked. Works great with Voda as well as MTN.:D

Thats tooo bad GT. You must extend the free aerial that comes with the 3G card few metres up in the air. Maybe you will pick up sumthin!! :)
