In light of the sad turn of events regarding local IS hardcaps, lets all post when we get capped , as has been the trend with telkom accounts...

I am on a 3 gig/30 account. At 25 gigs when i heard the news and that is where i still am now. (so obviously not capped yet...)

What about the rest of us?

Anyone hardcapped on IS yet??

Hmmm , that is not great. I have started raping my account again. Hoping for around the 50gig mark. This 10 day uncapped local for 99 bucks from openweb is one topup option that is not to bad, should i get capped...

guys... seriously.....

there's a reason why there are caps.

I'm sure IS / any ISP would not enforce hard caps if there was avalib bandwidth!

People that are using 40GB should possibly look at uncapped solutions. I

I lived in London for some time where i was using 100 - 150GB a month. There was alot of avalib bandwidth.

its a public holiday for crying out loud. SAIX is full speed on everything, but dear or IS 5kb/s.

On this freedom day all we want is decent communication, not houses or gravy train jobs. I just want a decent internet connection in africa! Is that too much to ask?

Hard caps? I had an 'OpenBrowse' account from OpenWeb. I got 'hard capped' at an alleged 30GB over the holiday weekend. Trouble is, there is no way I used that much. It's not my only account. Mostly I use another, as the IS accounts are too slow during the day, when I mostly use it.

Attempting to discuss it with OpenWeb was a total waste of time. I've terminated the relationship. All they could say was "they only resell" excuses. If he can't labor to uphold his end of our contract, he doesn't need to "only resell" to me. Apparently he doesn't care in the least that he has cheated a customer.

Oh my god...here we go again.

mrbeep does not control the capping or the network. Most people understand that. what exactly is he suppose to do? buy you another account because you havent secured your router.

I change my router password at least once a week. Its your own fault. dont blame a respected isp.

Indeed. It is not ur ISP's responsibility to ensure that u don't leave ur router password as the default and consequently have ur precious gigs stolen...

To get back on topic- I have read posts on other forums of many users getting in excess of 90gigs off one IS account last month. Anyone here with the same experience?

Goofyy

So, you just know all about my router, because MrBeep is 'respected'. MrBeep, who didn't bother to explain that was a possibility.

Be certain, our router is not set to the default password. If outside abuse were the explanation, then this would be reflected in both my accounts. It isn't the case. (Just so ya know, I've been playing with this internet thingy for 10 years [4 countries, 3 continents]. Before that, another 15 years of assorted BBSs, Compuserve, etc. Sometimes professionally.)

When I had OpenWeb, I got daily usage reports. When I switched to OpenBrowser, that stopped. When I asked for documentation/proof of the alleged usage, I got nothing.

I know y'all respect MrBeep, else I'd not have given him a try in the first place. Things went just fine until I switched to his OpenBrowser account. First he had trouble getting that account change sorted. Then one good month, then oopsie, I've used 30GB on an account that isn't my principle account.

Well, it was ur first post so dont blame us for thinking u are a noob ;)

It is not often that u hear complaints about openweb, thats all. In this case though, i dont know what u propose they, as the reseller, do about ur problem?

I know it sucks, but i am not sure it is up to openweb to rectify the mistake, if it was indeed a mistake...

Goofyy
03-05-2006, 10:17 PM
If OpenWeb isn't responsible to deliver what they accept payment for, then who would be, exactly? My contract is with OpenWeb. They either fulfill the contract, or they don't. Who/what/when/where they get the goods or services they contract to deliver is not my problem, but theirs.

So, they have little control. But apparently they have some control, else they wouldn't be able to sell these unique OpenBrowser accounts. The fact is, I had to write OpenWeb to find out why I couldn't connect. Then, when I protested, there wasn't the slightest attempt to work with me on the issue. Where I come from, this is unprofessional.

I should add...
The thing about being a noob...Fair point. Hadn't thought of that. Funny, I haven't been around noobs in a long time (the ones in real life dont' count).

The bandwidth was trivial. I'm angry at MrBeep for not being professional enough to handle it. Bad enough putting up with the slowness during the week days. But I got great speeds during off hours.

Goofyy,

I provided you with the info you required. I answered your questions, and I did it in the sincerest manner possible.

I cannot afford to provide you with another free account, as that account would be paid out of my own pocket. I really do not know what to say to you, that will sort this problem out.

If you find my manners rude, then I apologise. I always try my best, and this case, I don't think it's good enough.

Sorry bro.

I provided you with the info you required. I answered your questions, and I did it in the sincerest manner possible.

What info did you provide, beyond the reason I was unable to log-on, and that the account had gone past its limit? You provided nothing beyond that.

Why did I get daily usage statements with OpenWeb, but not with OpenBrowser? When I contested the usage claim and asked for proof, why was no record made available?

You neither made a case in defense of your inaction, nor in defense of the claim of excess usage. When invited to either provide proof, reactivate the account, or cancel the account, you chose the easy way out, and canceled the account.

You took my money, and did not deliver in full on the contract. It is just that simple. You made no attempt to right the wrong, you simply washed your hands of the matter. You got your money, why should you care?

Perhaps this is the first time such a thing has occured. I wouldn't know. I have my suspicions about what happened, but that's all they are. Fact is, this was totally wrong. No 25 GB came my way. Why does IS claim it did? How often would that happen in the future, and what are you going to do about it? Are your accounts purely 'buyer-beware'?

MrBEEP
04-05-2006, 05:00 PM
Your account was hardcapped.

IS does the hardcapping of accounts.

We do not control or manage anything IS does. It is not our network.

I cannot do anything further than provide you with the information requested. NO matter what I say here will lead to a resolution, as you believe we stole your bandwidth. I cannot provide you with another account, as bandwidth management is the clients own responsibility.

We cannot be held responsible for bandwidth lost or stolen.
