New York - Walt Disney Co's ABC Television will offer some of its most popular shows, such as Desperate Housewives and Lost, for free on the internet in a two-month trial, the company said on Monday. (http://www.news24.com/News24/Entertainment/Abroad/0,,2-1225-1243_1914348,00.html)These four shows (Commander in Chief, Alias, Lost and Desperate Housewives) viewed on a weekly basis would most likely cause you to exceed your cap

It is in Flash8 which uses VP6. It is a pretty awsome codec
And it is in 500x282 at 400kbs or 700x394 at 700 kbps

The dent in the 'average' cap wouldn't be worth it in this country.
Eish, the joys of broadband and you can't even use it - thanks Telkom for nothing.
I was listening Highveld Stereo around lunch time when driving and the DJ (not the regular one) started talking about shows like Desperate Housewives being made available for free on the Internet and that the only catch is that you have to watch the ads too.
She then twice said the reason why South Africans won't be able to view the shows is because "our internet is not fast enough" to do so.
Despite the story of SA's hight internet costs on Carte Blanche on Sunday she made no mention that our internet is so much more expensive compared to other countries or of the small caps we have! :(

You will need 1024 ADSL to handle it if at all. Most folks just wond be able to view streamed video like that. We will have to download it.

The DJ in question probably doesn't have Internet at home and was refering to her company sponsored Internet at work. Hence, no clue as to what it would cost. ;)

SAT-3 can not provide enough bandwidth for everyone to watch TV shows in the USA.
We can download them and share the files through local P2P appilcations.
This is what the guys are doing overseas,
The demand must still be created here for fast broadband pipes.
There must be something we can download - all the time.24/7
