Axxess is running a special where new accounts are sold at discount. The discount changes every hour. I saw 50% off between 6 and 7. The discount will be random every hour, they say. Let's keep track of the discounts here.
Presently 31% up to 8am.

Nice, but they dont have 10mb lines uncapped.

Im tempted to buy it!!! If I buy the 4mb uncapped, what will my speeds be on 10mb? Will it run at 10mb or at 4mb?

Nicci

Hmm it says the discount is not recurring - so you pay it only for the first month and then thereafter you pay full each month. No thanks.

does this apply to top ups?

Of course not. They'd be making a serious loss if they offered you a continuous service at like 60% discount...

Unfortunately it does not apply to top ups either. Oh well, nothing to see here... moving on.

16-03-2012, 10:22 AM
they should have rather made it smaller discounts, but recurring

WA / AFrihost did it???

@froot that is a steal--but charges will revert to normal after this month!

Also, if you are looking for capped 10GB (valid for 3 months if not used up) for R89 then @lantic has a better deal IMO.

WA / AFrihost did it???

WA owns their own network, they can afford to do it.
Afrihost cut to bare minimum and used their advertising budget to pay for the "specials".

Both of the above can afford to do it.

What is the chance that it will go higher than 80%? Anyone feeling lucky?

I'd be scared to touch them with a 10ft long pole... even when in a biohazard suit.

I doubt you will get luckier than that hey.... chances are this was the best offer you're going to get.

The most I saw was 11-12 @ 80%?
Edit: Just confirmed with a friend too.... and he bought at 10.30...

Yes. But it would still be silly of them to make a big loss as a company, wouldn't it? Well, that's just my opinion though.

4meg onbviously. If you want 10meg uncapped, you need to get a 10meg uncapped account.

Duh, I placed an order for for this and the account was created but the card transaction was NOT processed :(
Seems like the super specials are 'dummies' - amazing that a purchase an hour earlier went through at a higher price.
Why ? because they can.

Email them. From what I understand, when the account is created(regardless of payment) the invoice has been created at that discount price. So if you pay for it later, the invoice amount is still at the price it was when you signed up for it. Think of the guys paying by deposit or EFT.

My error, my assumptions were incorrect. These specials are 'gobble n' go' -
buy now and use by end of the month -
AND cancel the account (else you get topped up at regular rate again).
You cannot buy now and gobble later like 1st of next month -
thats why my second order was not fully processed, I selected the 'activate next month' box.
IMO the option should not have been displayed.
Unless anyone knows more about the ultra fine print.

BTW i had the "Next Month [Starts on: 1st April 2012]" check box ticked, but the price showed the same. So why was i invoiced at full price?

You cant buy the account on special for next month... Said so on the home page.

Avikage
18-03-2012, 08:32 PM
Im sorry that is very misleading. The price should atleast update when you tick the different checkboxes and should not rely on stupid fine print.

So? Both AH & WA have done that before - taking a massive hit & renewing that indefinitely. So its not an entirely unreasonable question to ask.

i dont understand whats this special about, other than to mislead consumers. You are signing up for the account in the middle of the month and you are paying approximately half price. Whats the big deal.

tcat
18-03-2012, 08:56 PM
Gee I feel silly, now when I think about - mid month - half price - no carryover to next month
lose what u don't use -
its always the fine print - sooo fine, and lack of clarity when card being processed.

never smokin me socks again !

That's a good analysis of the situation.

Pretty happy with it, downloading at full speed after hours but it's useless during peak hours I can hardly browse.
