Hi all,
I am just trying to figure out whether the dial-up account that comes with TelkomInternet ADSL accounts, is supposed to still work after being capped?

I was under the impression that it was supposed to work after being capped, but maybe it is only supposed to work if ADSL goes down, as a backup.

Anyone know for sure how these dial-up account work. Unfortunately, at work I still need to use dial-up, as we are out in the bundu's.

Yeah - it works:
Can I use my TelkomInternet powered by ADSL username and password for a dialup?

Yes, you get a free dialup account with your ADSL subscription, which you can use to establish a normal dialup connection. (http://www.telkomsa.net/products/adsl_faq.jsp)

Apparently whatever you use over dialup counts towards your cap so I'm guessing it wouldn't work after being capped then.

g-ds! if this true then telkom (spit) are even more full of carp than I thought.
But I hope you are mistaken.

Should you reach the allocated bandwidth, you will be disconnected from accessing the Internet or mail on the ADSL network. You will still be able to access the Internet over a dialup modem making use of your TelkomInternet powered by ADSL account. Impact once capped . . Can access the Internet over a dialup connection

@bwana - that side of the picture is clear, what is unclear is whether dialup usage counts towards your cap while you are still within your cap.

So, let us say you have InfintCrap, and 1GB of your 3GB is used. Along comes the weekend and you dial up and download 1GB of data. Does this use another 1GB of your ADSL usage, leaving you with 2GB used?

Doubtful.

Doubtful.I also doubt it as you are then technically subject to dial-up charges. But rather contact them just to make sure. Commonsense doesnt often prevail in the hallowed halls of telkom.

they just have not thought of it yet - watch them implement this idea as part of their next "cost-cutting" exercise...

Well, not to worried about it counting towards my cap, but everytime I get capped, then the dial-up also stops working. "username or password not valid on domain".
