Who remembers Kreols chips?

It had the most horrid fishy smell, but I loved it.
Your breath stank afterwards so not something you eat on a date.

I remember eating it while we were driving from Pretoria to Cape Town when I was in Grade 2.

For the rest of the trip I was not allowed to buy it again if we would be in the car for longer than 30 minutes that day :(

I remember it when the smell got so bad that it got banned in our school's Tuck Shop.

When we took packets down to the Transkei area, and went bundu bashing to far and away fishing spots, the local's loved those chips, imagine the scene black and white kids sitting on the back of a bouncy bakkie trying to eat Kreols.

My cousin bought some Kreols at Fruit and Veg last week. He said it wasn't the same as the original.

Was just about to mention I'd seen something with that name there. Never had the stuff, can't say it looked good enough to buy, so can't say if it's the same.

Tried those as well, greasy and not nice at all.
Didnt Simba chips recently hold a competition in SA for people to come up with new flavours, there where many fish or snoek in the responses.

Asked my wife and people in office what they all miss, we all roughly in the same age bracket, Kreols came up 9 out 10 times.

Wonder if they had to make it again if it'll taste the same.
Might suck now that we are older.

I doubt it. Remember how totally different Ghost Pops were when they made them again? THAT was disappointing!

Just not the same anymore.
Wonder how they got that fishy taste, was there "fish" somewhere in there or substituted "additives" to taste like fish.

never heard of them before, any of you remember Tango? I think it was Simba or Willards, basically it was Woolies Prawn Cocktail chips.

I bought a pack from an Engen Garage and by was I not impressed.

It tasted salt and vinegarish, more than anything :sick:
